Need input

I own a 92 C4 but have a opportunity to have a 04 C5. The downside is it has a salvage title. The damage was front end W/no deployment of air bags or glass breakage. All repairs were with OEM parts the car is quite nice. I am a old mechanic so I know what I am looking at so, I would just like some input from people that have C5s. Thanks in advance.

Tough to sell with a salvage tile
If you are going to keep it forever, might be a good deal, if you don't over pay.
I've never owned a C4, but the C5 is far superior to the C1, C2 and C3s that I've owned.
Good luck

I personally have no interest in owning a car with a salvage title - it may be repaired properly, but if I ever wanted to sell it I think I would have a difficult time doing so, unless the price was excellent. And I usually don't keep a car for a really long period of time.

If you can get it for a really good price, and plan to keep it for a long time, it might be an OK deal. I will say that the C5 is a very nice car - and after owning two C3s and four C4s, the three C5s that I have had have been superior to any of the earlier generation cars.

Seems like if you are going to keep it a long time or track it, I would say go for it. I would compare the ride of the C4 I had to my C5Z on full blown track settings.

I can get the car for $13,500 which I thought was a great price for a C5

The rule of thumb is whatever the average price is for the same '04 with the same options, mileage etc from three internet price guides (Edmunds, Black Book, NADA,etc) with a "good" title divide by 1/2 for the '04 with the salvage title.

I seriously considered a 'flood car' that was advertised here on the forum- it appeared that the greatest of care was used in removing all the old carpets and seats, cleaning/drying out everything and replacing the ECU-- the car looked beautiful and was priced very well - - but there was that nagging feeling that there were unseen surprises aling the way that just wouldn't make it worthwhile.

If you're going to keep it a long time and the value at sales time isn't a concern AND you have the car thoroughly inspected - - then it might be worthwhile. But under any case, it's my opinion that $13.5 is still too much . . . I'd go $10.5 tops.

But-- your car . . .your call ! Good luck .

That seems high with a salvage title. You can get a C5 in the 98-2001 range for about 15K with less than 100,000 miles.
