Chicagoland suburbs service dept recommendations?

Hello fellow Chicagoans!

I acquired my first Corvette in the fall and know of quite a few Chevy dealers in the western suburbs. But aside from Advantage Chevrolet in Countryside (wife's Traverse), I haven't had much experience with any other service depts and none specifically for my '04 base coupe. I'm not overly impressed with the way I am treated as a customer by the service ADVISORS at Advantage. Can't say one way or another regarding specific technicians or parts department.

I don't want to trust my new "baby" to just anyone, so I'm looking for others in the area to voice their recommendations for a reliable and customer friendly service department. It would be fantastic if the recommendation included a proven Corvette Specialist as well so I know the car is treated correctly.

I'd be going mainly for the routine oil change, and typical maintenance work. My car only has 17,000 miles on it. It will provide peace of mind that the car will be lifted properly to avoid damage to the rockers. And if there is a Corvette Specialist, they can perhaps point out other things that I may not realize to keep the car running strong and problem free.

Bill Kay on Ogden in Lisle. Good Corvette guys there.
Always had good luck with Mark.

HP Performance Corvettes in Mundelein. The name says it all, and 10000 miles later I still love the blower they did for me, among umpteen other items. They will do your oil changes to your largest performance projects.

Thanks for the referral Bob!

There are many great options for service in our area, if I can help you with anything just drop me a line I'd be happy to talk about any projects, or questions you may have regarding your Corvette. (No matter if you choose my services or not)

Thanks,
-=Rick

Agree with George, Mark and the Corvette experts at Bill Kay. And Rick Anthony is a winner also.

Thanks all. Sounds like I have enough options to choose from. Bill Kay in Lisle and Sunrise in Glendale Heights are my two closest options. And of course Rick is nice and close as well. So as Spring rolls around I'll decide what to do.

My first order of business is a routine oil change and overall inspection of the vehicle. I'm hearing a noise in the wheels (brakes?) that I'm hoping to get cleared up quickly before I spend any money on other goodies.

I live in Willow Springs which is 3 minutes from Advantage and all I can say is they are Jagoffs there. The shop is super clean but the service people are not nice at all. The techs are kool but we dont get to talk to them much unfortunately. I did come across Bill Kay on Ogden just past 355 and although its farther than I wanna go, they are really nice and get the job done right. Also, Homewood Chevrolet is really good as well, but they are not close, actually I think thats a toss up as far as distance traveled.

I prefer Bill Kay because of having so much in common with George Wronowski (piloting GA aircraft, guns, hunting, fishing, age similarities, first hand knowledge of C1, C2 and C3 cars, etc.), Mark Bowling and other service writers, and their entire staff of techs. However I have gone to Advantage on some occasions and have developed a great relationship with their staff also.

Their techs are good, and I have found their front desk service people to be extremely polite, conversational, and helpful. When it's time to change tires from summer to winter, they bring a van to my home, load the appropriate tire/wheels and take them to the dealership. When the seasonal swap is done, they load up the ones just removed and bring them back to my home. All for no charge, of course.

I guess we've had different experiences, but I don't mind using Advantage at all. :flag:

So what is the consensus on best dealer in the west suburbs? I just bought a 2013 from a forum dealer and need to know who is competent for warranty work (I'm spoiled by Cadillac service since I mostly drive those anymore). For service I agree Rick Anthony is the best.

You will never have a consensus. :nonod: Several opinions mentioned here already. :yesnod: Where do you live, and that may help us recommend great and near you.

Congrats on the new car and hope to see you at the C&Cs starting March 9, and at our lunches.

My father-in-law owned my car prior to me and bought it new from Advantage. He seemed to have a good experience when he took it there, stating they were friendly with him and quick with service. But when I've brought any other vehicle to them, the service advisors are not friendly at all, and communication is terrible. I've been in the lobby waiting for my car to be done, only to find that it has been sitting completed for some time and nobody came to tell me. Just last week I sat for three hours while they looked at my wife's Traverse for a water pump failure. I had to find them to get a status update! After my own experiences and hearing others on this thread, it honestly feels a bit discriminating...have a Corvette and they take care of you, anything else and they simply don't care. All customers should be treated equal IMHO.

So aside from your Corvette, have any of you taken other GM vehicles to these dealerships and what was the experience like? Same as with the Corvette, or less than?

I personally like the service dept.at Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort. Great folks there and they actually will help you if you have a problem.:yesnod:

Maligator 02-26-2013 07:41 PM

I was going to start a new thread; but has anyone come across a dealer that is familar with checking the valve guides on the LS7? Better yet, one that has diagnosed and fixed a faulty LS7 with worn guides?
