Corvette Haters

This was an interesting topic on another site. Thought I'd ask everyone here about your stories. There's also a topic in the C5 section, where a guy went into a store only to come back out and a truck had dented his car. He confronted the guys, brawl busted out and he had to pull a gun on them. No shots fired.

I'm 27, with a C6 and I get a lot of dirty looks and "haters". I enjoy it though lol.

Anyone have any experiences with corvette haters?

EVRose 12-21-2012 01:35 PM

Nope. All I get are compliments.

LFZ 12-21-2012 01:36 PM

Haters gonna hate. You probably think you're young at 27 with a vette and that people are going to "hate" due to jealousy, but today, it doesn't really make you any more special than a guy who is 67 with a vette. Haters gonna hate...and if you're a douche...they're going to hate even more.

surfinva27 12-21-2012 01:38 PM

im 22, and on my second c6, glad i dove into the world of vettes early. i have had the occasional hey how do you afford that when your so young. which my usual response is, hey save your pennies. because most people dont realize its not that far of a stretch to afford a used one. but for the most part only compliments have come my way. not many haters.

I'd be careful saying that all non -vette owners are haters...sure there are some people that are jealous and envious of others, but I wounldn't lump everyone together.

Parking lot brawls with idiots occur every day, and sometime involves gun play. Yes, some people get kicks parking as close to you in an empty parking lots watching how you get into your vette.

It happens when I go to wally world and I park so far away I have to use the shuttle bus to get to the entrance:willy:, and sure enough someone parks right beside me...I don't sweat the small stuff an as long as there is no scrathes or damage I just laugh, jump in my vette and smile as I drive off.

Didn't mean to come across as saying non-Vette owners are haters. I don't think that at all. I know that a lot of times, I pull up next to an older guy, in a work truck or something like that, he looks at me and sometimes flips me off. Or even talks to a buddy and points and laughs.

I find that younger people than me seem intimidated when I pull next to them. My biggest problem is older men.

Have not run into any haters, a few debaters that like to discuss the shortcomings of a Vette versus what they desire or own. But that is to me nothing more than car talk and I find it entertaining.

I got a lot more hate in My old M3 than Vettes around here, the Vette gets complimented everywhere I go. But my old '10 GT500 would attract a crowd at times, lot of girls said it was their dream car lol.

Depends where you live I guess, its Mustang country here, but there are lots of Vettes around.

Ive had the same happen, several times........Women love it, but men my age or older give dirty looks. Not my problem I made good decisions in life and can afford a Z06.........just like my Msgt said (who has a callaway) haters are gonna hate!

2vettes 12-21-2012 02:35 PM

I never had a problem.

Boomer111 12-21-2012 02:40 PM

Nope, but then I usually am moving when I am out in the Vette.

glenB 12-21-2012 02:52 PM

Why do all these types of threads have a 'I'm a 20/30 something' blah blah blah, bottom line is so what.

In the incident mentioned by the OP, this is more than just a case of Corvette haters

For others it's just a case of jealousy

Torchsport 12-21-2012 02:58 PM

Maintain a cheerful, and sunny disposition when talking with non-Corvette owners, and you should be just fine. :yesnod:

I should give it a try sometime...

I could care less, mine is the only opinion that counts around here. I worked hard my whole life, many of you know what I have been through. I made my dream come true with my GS at 48 years old and now at 50,this is "my time now". Dirty looks at me while driving amuse me.

Vetteman Jack 12-21-2012 03:13 PM

Never have run into someone that just wanted to cause trouble. Sure there have been people that prefer another car over the Vette but that's why they make different brands.

If this is the same post I saw, it was a "tough-in-cheek" story that the OP made up. :yesnod:

Never had a problem. I've had compliments, people ask if they can take pics, some girls who pose with car & let me take pics, 30 minute conversations about the car, people have parked next to my car & mentioned to me they did it to help protect the car, etc. But I'm 55, humble, & have a magnetic personality, lol. Not some 20ish snot nose know-it-all, lol. What bothers me the most is: when I drive the car I've had dates with a 19, 22, & 29 year old. Still date the 29. Couldn't stand the drama of the 22, & the 19 year old still carried her cheerleader pom pons. Drive my other car, nothing. The vette is the ice breaker. I also lie about my age, lol.

Joe_Planet 12-21-2012 03:31 PM

I never had a problem, but then again I dont shop at walmart, i REALLY dont want to stereotype but lets just say its definitely more lower income people that shop there that will be more prone to commit a crime.

If i do go somewhere, i just park normally, i dont park in the back 40, because parking out of the way will actually give a vandal more opportunity!
