Corvette Corral at Daytona Rolex 24??

Anyone know if there will be a Corvette Corral at the Daytona Rolex 24?

I am thinking a C7 might be there if they have the Corral.

The Daytona map on their website shows a Porsche Corral but nothing from GM...

Anybody have any inside info on this??

Thanks

I have never been to the 24 hour race as I am not a fan of the Rolex/Grand Am series, but I am thinking that because there is no Corvette Factory team racing in that series (at least not this year) that GM is not spending the money to do a corral like they do in the ALMS series.

So what do the tickets cost? Is there a charge for the corral?

Kelly

Looks like $35 general admission for Saturday and Sunday and $5 for the corral. Plus any options you might want extra.

To be honest, the corral is a waste of money, it's not like Sebring with the tent and lunch etc. Sure, you get general admin tickets with the corral but they stick you way down by turn 4 and the trams are up by turn 1 so lots of walking and no one really is watching the corral, last year we had some 'other' makes parking there.

I elected not to get the corral this year.

If anyone gets a chance, the Corvette corral at LeMans 24 is priceless. When the National anthem is played it made me teary eyed.

Actually there will be several factory Corvettes in DP class, I think 6 in all.

Pratt Miller did the bodies, but several manufctueres supplied the chassis.

UPDATE: I have been to that race several times and have never seen a Corvette coral. My tickets for the 2013 race show activities and a Corvette coral is not shown.

That's the specific answer I was looking for - at the ALMS Corrals they bring Vettes, Caddy's and other cars - I was hoping the C7 would be there given that it's the first big race after the January intro at Detroit...

There are more people with Corvette stuff on than any other brand.

Here are pictures from the last time they raced in GT1.

Last year I spent a day with the team as they prepared for Lemans, it was one of the best days of my adult childhood.

Yes - there will be a Corvette Corral at the Rolex 24.

Butt....it's really nothing more than group parking - they just have an area where Vettes can park.

Friday parking is in the infield, but parking for Sat/Sun is outside, but still good parking close to the grandstands.

Here's a link to info:

http://www.daytonainternationalspeed...s/corrals.aspx

You can see that there will be corrals for 6 different makes, but only 3 have the Friday infield option, and the Vette is one of those.

You can see that the various makes of cars have an option for either a $35, $45, or both.

The $35 is for Friday infield parking and entry for the Friday Continental Tire 200 race.

The $45 is for parking Saturday and Sunday behind the front stretch grandstands, and includes entry for both days of the Rolex 24.

The Corvette link on that webpage I linked above won't call up the Corvette "PDF", but it should read just like this one for the Mustang:

See ya at the races!!!:steering:

Those are not factory backed cars. NASCAR/Grand Am wanted the DP's to look more like the manufacturers car so Pratt & Miller did the body for all the teams that ran a Chevy motor. They had to fit on the different available chassis that were used for the DP cars. Now there may be a little help from Gm to these teams, but the true factory Corvette team is the Corvette Racing team in the ALMS series.

As far as the Corvette Corral goes at Daytona this year is a spot outside the front straight. So in actuality, it is nothing more then a designated area to park.

Ok, GM provides technical and financial support, but I guess that isn't the same as Factory backed, since GM is not paying 100% of the bill.

I just spent several minutes with a very helpful lady at DIS to obtain a pair of Corvette Car Corral tickets for Sat and Sun for $45 each, $104 total for two tickets and "handling" fees. This is a better deal than purchasing a two day package for 45 plus an additional 35 for garage access. With any of the car corral packages the garage access is included.....SWEET! we're headed to the 24. I'm now off to see if any rental companies have Corvettes to rent....being we're flying directly into Daytona, I believe my options will be limited. Bummer...that means I'll have to park my rental elsewhere. See ya' at the races.

Pardon the ignorance, but Daytona 24 and Lemans 24 are 2 different races, no? I remember Lemans being at the beginning of the year. Will google it to DVR it. The Daytona one would be interesting to attend. Have a buddy who lives in FL, but don't know how far away from Daytona. Thx.

LeMans > Daytona

but yes 2 different races, LeMans is a semi-permanent course using local roads and Daytona is a roval which uses lights at night.
