Interior Batting Removal from 65 Coupe
I am currently restoring my 65 big block coupe. The interior has been removed. When the carpeting was removed, it left behind quite a bit of the underlying batting material used to insulate the floor. My question is what do I use to remove this and not potentially damaging the fiberglass?:willy:

you can try lacquer thinner with a wide scraper tool.

Use a wire brush to remove the majority of the threads. Then use a sharpened putty knife to scrape off the glue. It doesn't have to be perfect because you're gonna be putting more glue down. Here's a pic. of how I left mine after using the above procedure. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17...2_10170004.jpg
Here's one after the insulation is added http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17/jwd60/IMG_0540.jpg |
Depending on how much jute material remains will influence your choice of tools. Heavy remaining jute can clog up a wire brush, best to use a slightly dull putty knife, as it will not gouge the fiberglass. Dennis
