Do you carry a jack in your corvette?

I would like to carry a jack in my C5 just in case of a flat tire. That said, any good sources for a low profile jack that will fit in our cars?

Thanks.

Glenn

Nope I don't carry one. Some guys used to talk about a Mercedes jack that would work.

Nope, no room at all.

I carry a standard scissor jack that you can get from Autozone and a set of RV leveling blocks the you can get from Walmart. Ride on the blocks to get the car high enough to get the jack underneath.

I don't carry a jack, and won't even after I get rid of the runflats that are on the car. But if I was to have one, you'll need blocks as mentioned here to get the car up in the air enough to get under it. Regardless of what jack you use, getting under these cars is a challenge, even at stock height. Lowered, and you may as well forget it.

I don't want to have a lot of crap in the car, I'd sooner just call a tow truck.

I have a small scissor jack that came out of a Nissan just in case, I also have a plug kit a few tools and a compressor.

Nope I don't carry one - I have Triple AAA

Plus there is no room for a spare either, you could get the C5 Z06 flat repair kit!

Thanks,Matt

A low profile jack fits under hockey pucks no problem. I bought one from Sears, been using it a lot in the garage for projects.

I have run flats. Don't not see the use for a jack if you don't have a spare, unless you have a compressor and plug kit maybe?

I carry AAA - Premier

Hope they can help ...

I carry an air compressor and plug kit, but no jack. I have emergency road service on my insurance policy and always carry a cell phone.

But, I do need to look for a small scissors jack that might work with the car.

cor66vette 01-22-2013 08:25 PM

I do in the '66 not in the '03.

calvins 01-22-2013 08:28 PM

nope. It's called a $50/yr roadside assistance insurance rider with up to 100 miles of flatbead. Well, may be 50, I'd have to pull the policy ;-)

Milamo 01-22-2013 08:52 PM

Portable air compressor and a bottle of fix a flat in my cargo area... doesn't take up hardly any room at all.

CheezMoe 01-22-2013 09:10 PM

No run flats, jack or spare here;

:iagree: yep. thats the standard action plan

Just the fix a flat for me....and this would be for extreme case in lost darkness with roadside help many hours out and no cell signal. :willy: I typically try and stay away from these situations in the vettes!

I do carry a plug kit and a can of slime. been looking for a air compressor. Which ones are You using ?

dmarkshark 01-22-2013 09:19 PM

Air compressor and Fix a Flat.

calvins 01-22-2013 09:29 PM

to each their own, but if you ever see the inside of a rim/tire that's had that put into it, you'll never do it again. 50/yr is awfully cheap insurance against having to replace a rim.

Ditto, but mine came out of a Toyota.....

dannyman 01-22-2013 10:07 PM

Really no need for a compressor. If a plug and can of slime can't fix it, the wheel's coming off.
