2013 exaust
 

I just bought a 2013 vette and it apears to have either 4 cats or 4 mufflers and 2 cats. What are they ? I dare not to say which coupe I bought.:confused:

Your car is identical to a 2011, except 2 small cats were added to the 'X' pipe to comply with CA emissions, for a total of 4 cats (the main ones are much larger). And there're only 2 mufflers at the back. Anyway, since I don't live in CA, I swapped my '12 GS X-pipe (same as yours) with a '11 GS one. Mostly to reduce the already ridiculous heat under the tunnel. It worked, but it was still more than I wanted in the TX heat, so insulated the tunnel as well. Both have identical dimensions, and as I said, the cars are identical underneath. And yes, the NPP sounds nicer in loud mode now, which I use most of the time. How do you get the NPP exhaust to stay in the loud mode?

Pull the fuse or buy the controller.

ELP JC, I think you are saying there were 3 "things" on each side in 2013, but not in 2011. The pipe on the left in the picture shows two "chambers" near the end of the pipe runs, one on each side, which I assume are the cats. If there are two mufflers after that, that totals 4 "chambers". But the OP is seeking to identify 6 chambers. Would there be 2 more chambers after that one pictured, with the final one being the muffler?

steve8, thank you for the reply. That's a reference to a 3rd-party aftermarket controller, right? Chevrolet does not make such an accessory, do they? Would such a controller impact the validity of the warranty? Do you remove the whole device prior to taking the car in for a service call?

So the stock 2011 X pipe is a drop in on the '12 and '13? No tuning issues? That is good to know as this article implies some fitment issues when using aftermarket exhaust. http://www.corvettenewsblog.com/2012...ic-converters/ The other cats are in the down pipe.

I did not know CA added those extra resonators. CARB strikes again.

They are on all the cars AFAIK. Mine has them.

My 2012 z06 has this as well 4 cats couldn't believe it.

to the best of my knowledge....3rd party M2W systems do not void the factory warranty. Dealers actually install them for customers.

I purchased the Exhaust Commander Elite through SunsetOrangeCreations. Ben, the owner is awesome, as is the system. Love NPP loud, and the ability to switch back and forth.

I have an Exhaust Commander Elite through SunsetOrangeCreations as well and to me its a sweet setup. I use the User setting with the valves opening at 2400 RPM and closing at 1500 RPM, it a good mix between acceleration and cruising.

Hello Truthb. Does your M2W setup work off both of the Key Fobs, and including the door lock/unlock switch, and visor buttons?

Those are small resonators similar to what Corsa has on their touring exhaust. I had a set installed on my '11 w/o issue. I can now run in 6th on the highway w/o cabin drone.

On the 4 cat exhaust systems, there is one cat attached to the exhaust manifold not shown in the picture. So yes, 2 cats and one muffler per side.

I would think that is correct. My M2W was installed at the Corvette Museum when I picked it up.

Thanks to the EPA, more weight and more costs. The EPA is bringing up the cost of goods in this country and reaching in our pockets. For those who respond "it's better for the environment" LOL. IT'S A BUSINESS!!!

Short answer is Yes it does, but my car is a 2LT so I don't have buttons on my visor.

Long Answer:
My setup isn't as simple as the M2W closed or open system. My system has 3 settings (listed below) and pressing the lock button on either door or key fob will cycle the system through the 3 settings. Lastly, the controller will remain in which ever setting it is left in when the car is turned off.


Settings:
1: Quiet --> factory NPP setting open/closed at around 3600 RPM.
2: Loud --> open valves at all times.
3: User --> Personal choice of when to open and closed. Open@2400RPM and Closed@1500 RPM.

Are there any o2's connected to those cats?
Did you notice any change to the exhaust note/tone?
