2013 427 Convertible Windscreen

Does anyone have the GM convertible windscreen installed? If so how do you like it? I assume the top can go up and down and the windscreen does not get in the way?

It came with car and I had to pay for it but it is not installed. Thanks for any and all help.

You must remove the GM windscreen to put the soft top up.

jkbronco 01-25-2013 07:13 PM

I assume it is an easy slide on slide off? Otherwise it seems extremely impractical. Thanks a lot for the info I really appreciate it!

to my recollection of others' comments, it isn't an easy removal. but having to remove it at all is a pain imo. others may chime in and say if it is easy to remove or not. why not call the service dept. of a chev dealer?

You have to install 2 brackets and a top interlock. It then slides on and off quite easily however the top will not go up until it is taken off. I think that it functions quite well.

On my wife's vert, we had a wind screen and it really was worthless. Much better without the screen at all.

Thanks for the info guys - still not sure. May ask dealer not to install it. Wonder if I could get credit for something else?

How does it look with just the brackets? Anyone have any pictures?

Wind Restrictor stays in when you raise or lower top...Ed

I ordered a GM windscreen with my 427 on the recommendation of the dealer. I opened the box and read the installation instructions and, decided it wasn't for me... I didn't want to cut the carpet and tackle the installation myself. Additionally, I didn't like the looks of the GM windscreen... thought it looked cheap. I returned windscreen to dealer, paid shipping fee and small re-stocking fee and received a refund check from dealer.

I got one with my car also...i think they look like crap installed, so mine stayed in the box.

I had one on my 2011. Really liked it. Kept it to put it in my 427

jkbronco 01-26-2013 10:26 AM

Well we are clearly mized in our views. Unless I can find soneone that has it installed I guess I will keep mine in the box as well. Anyone interested in a new GM windscreen?

absolutely easy. 5-10 seconds each way. As said above, I really like mine. When I have it installed (by dealer, i'm not going to cut my carpet) I'll take pics, but I know they already exist somewhere on the net.

The girlfriend has shoulder length hair. This screen allows us to run around town without the hat or pony tail. Happy wife, happy life. Rain, 5 seconds and it's in the trunk, 15 more seconds and the tops up. (the CAR's top :) )

I think it looks better than the clear versions with lights. JMHO.

:iagree: I have the GM windscreen for my 2013 GS Convertible. I checked them out installed prior to purchasing, and drove a convertible with screen in and out. Very easy to remove and re-install, similar (IMO) to buckling in your seatbelt. There is significant enough difference with windscreen in and both window, either partially up or all the way up. Honestly, the screen with Corvette logo looks very good. IMO.

I hate to ask a complete stranger for pictures, but.................. I would love to see pictures of it with screen in and how it looks with just the brackets.

Thanks in advance.

No strangers here on the CF. As soon as I install her, I will send pics.

Tom

Would you share them with the CF here? I'm interested in seeing them as well.
