Still not sure, how this has happened, but I just won Copart Sandy flood lot auction for 1988 Ferrari Testarossa. Was it saltwater submerged? If so you will need to tear it down asap. Maybe even to late to save much of it if it was saltwater. Depends on how submerged? Salwater is a killer.
If it was freshwater you may have a better chance. I have firends that by fresh water damaged vehicles. Thye flush the engine with clean oil as many times as it takes for the oil to come out clean....not milky. Of course all other parts have to be dried and cleaned. Some electonics will have to be replaced. |

I would drive it before everything starts to corrode. At least if for some reason it doesn't work out, the feel of driving it will last forever in your mind.

It was not a saltwater. So things are not that bad. Sure, I was thinking about keeping it when I was bidding :)

I love the looks of the late 80's Testarossas :thumbs: They were reasonably priced for a while but are coming back. They are expensive to fix and maintain. If it was under salt water you may end up under water trying to make it right. Salt water and electronics do not mix well. Good luck.

if you can't fix it, you can always just park it in your driveway to impress your neighbors. When they ask why you don't drive it you can tell them the Vette is more fun.

Does it run ok?? If not pull the motor out and drop in a crate 572... Throw something American into the Italian!! :)

Very nice car, they are iconic '80s supercars!
Fixing it could easily become very expensive; the engine, trans, and electronics for that car are very pricey!! If it was mine, I would figure out a way to drop an LSx engine and C5/6 transaxle in it, and drive the sh!t out of it!! That would probably be much cheaper in the end!! If so drain it again. Continue to do this until the oil is no longer milky. Check the transmission oil for water, change it if necesary. Dry out all the electronics. Take apart what you can and clean. You should be good to go. Once again my friends have done this many times. Ferrari's ,Masaratti's, BMW's etc. Good luck, let us know how you make out. J |
