Photochop: Corvette retro inspired hood for C7

First off, I must apologize for my poor photo editing skills. I thought it would be nice to see some more heritage design blended with the modern design. Below is the result.

inspiration (note the middle linear hood bulge and vents on both sides):

Not bad photo editing, except that is not a Stinger hood. The Stinger hood was available only in 1967 on the BB cars with a few exception where they ran out of the standard hood and had to use the Stinger on some SB cars.

Would probably make the car slower because the C7 hood was designed in the wind tunnel. And I think I remember reading that the hot air exiting the C7 hood vent helps with downforce and airflow over the car.

I've never understood the interest in tacking old design pieces onto new cars. Just does not look right.

I am still trying to understand how some continue to think that this new C7 "stingray" actually shares styling cues from the C2 stingray generation...

The hood vents are already into production, but I think it would look better if they were painted with the car.

I think it more resembles the c3 stingray more than the c2
sting ray. Also they used the one word name not 2 words.
Using LT-1 and possibly L-88 all go back to C3

yes, correct, thats not the stinger hood. Plus its enough with the heritage. I want a modern car now. Im also tired of the mustang too. They need a new look also.

:iagree:

Although I am not 100% sold on the new C7, I sure don't want a through back. It is a new generation, not a remake of an older Corvette. After all GM tried that with the Camaro and missed.

I bought my daughter a new SS convertible and I don't agree with you at all. According to true car the Camaro average sell price is closer to list than any of the other retro cars. I think you "missed" on your opinionated evaluation.

camaro looks great, just a little claustrophobic for me. Window sills kind of high also for me.

Then why does the Camaro outsell the Mustang and the Chalenger?

Stingray23 02-07-2013 04:20 PM

Lets keep the C2 hood on the C2 and the C7 hood on the C7.

Because it didn't miss unlike what some people might suggest.
