Harmonic balancer failure poll
 

Seems like I see a lot of folks posting threads about the possible / failure of the harmonic balancer on their cars. I was curious in seeing just how pervasive the problem is. If you respond please indicate the mileage on your vehicle when / or each time you experienced the problem.

No problem on the 2008 LS3 at 11k miles

06 with 58,000+ and no problems yet.

07 105,000 miles, No problems yet !!!

07 replaced at 28837.

07 replaced at 45000 miles

Had/have 4 C6's, no problems on any of them.

05 replaced at 19,000 miles and three years of operation.

'08 Roadster, LS3, 51,000 miles, no problem yet.

No issues with my 08 LS3 vert 32k miles

2008. 34,000 no issue.

When these things fail, what exactly is it that has failed?

'05, 22.5K miles, slight wobble and faint chirp, replacement planned in the very near future.....

'06 LS2 with 66,700 mi...a slight wobble. GM Corvette mech said it's ok right now...:hide:

'08, 42k and no problems

new engine replaced at dealership, replaced twice. Car has 12,000 since last replacement. Seems ok.

2007 20xxx miles

probably broke even on the gmpp

2011 with less than 3,000 miles. I have not experienced any problems....yet.

Can someone explain the problem...is it a visual inspection

I am pretty sure I have the issue.
I replaced all the idler pulley's and still have the chirpping.
My HB has a pretty healthy wable.
65K miles... I am OK replacing it to have piece of mind.
