Something could have broke on the car.. it is a test car. They said everything on the car was brand new.

From corvetteblogger:

We’re not too sure of the details yet and we put a call in to our friends at Chevy, but what you’re looking at here may be the first public accident involving a 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe. The blue Stingray was working out in Arizona with a group of other C7s but we believe this to be a one-car accident.

We found this picture posted by Digital Corvette’s member “gpetry” today who says a friend in Arizona had emailed the photo to him last week. So were not exactly sure of the time frame for the accident but gpetry recounts his friends description:

“Driving through some mountains in Arizona about 30 minutes ago. In some tight switchbacks when we passed this ’14 Vette. Cop had just arrived. Car is in worse shape than looks. Hit guardrail on left and bounced back to rocks.”

Somebody had a bad day…
We don’t know who the driver was at the time of the accident, but we did see GM test driver Jim Mero get out of a Blue Stingray in video we posted a couple weeks ago that showed three C7 Corvette Stingrays working out in Arizona.

Stay tuned as we try to get some more details.

Tadge will be fine, its part of the crash testing they need to do.

Is every one ready???????

It must have been caused by too much downforce...or was because it was too little downforce?

Must have been too much downforce as we have been told that the C7 has more downforce then a C6 ZR1.

oh wait, I though that a lot of downforce was good. looks like they need to tweak the downforce, while they're tweaking the weight.

BeaZt 02-12-2013 06:57 PM

Or maybe it was a 4 year old that hit the e brake button lol

Just another PSA... don't text and drive.

Maybe if the 4 year old had been driving, it would still be on the road instead on a rollback. Of course, if the driver was driving under real word conditions(ie: the speed limit) the excess downforce that the C7 has, that doesn't come into play until your are doing 80 and then so little, it's hardly noticeable, wouldn't have flipped him off the road.

I'm sure glad I drive a C6 Z06, that doesn't have any downforce, or that could have been me.

Someone remind me tomorrow to call the tire shop and cancel my order for the 245 front tires and the 285 rear tires that I ordered to replace the crappy 275 front tires and the 325 rear tires currently on my Z06, that don't grip as well as the 245 and 285 tires used on the C7. I don't think my insurance company wants me to have that much grip.

It was obviously this ^. More tweaking is needed.

sam90lx 02-12-2013 07:03 PM

Accidental cylinder de-activation.

tuxnharley 02-12-2013 07:07 PM

It's because of the blue color - they're just too d@mn fast!!! :D

BeaZt 02-12-2013 07:07 PM

Witness said it was a road with a bunch of switchbacks..bounced off of left guardrail then went to the other side into the ditch
