63 trick to getting ignition switch out

I know you can use a paper clip to get the ignition switch out but how?

Insert the key and turn it as far counter-clockwise as it will go; then insert the paper clip in the little hole, push it against the spring pressure, and turn the key counter-clockwise again - it will move further, and the cylinder will then pop out. Then you can unscrew the bezel and remove the switch.

Not sure about a 63 vs 65 but I don't think there is a difference. Turn your key all the way to the left. Insert pin and push in while turning the key to the left and it should release and pop out.

I can tell you how the thief that stole my car did it, he used a screwdriver leveraging on the eye brow taking out a hunk of the dash and being frustrated he stuck the screw driver in the center arm rest.

The large screwdriver was replaced with one of those sliding weight dent pullers for the column mounted locks. Many feel the column locks made thievery even easier...:ack:
