Any worries camming these motors? Ive seen multiple posts about the valves? Do I have anything to worry about with the 08 I purchased? It has 22,000 miles, motor is unmodified.

Going to certainly try!

I would invest in a set of WCCH stage 2 ported and polished heads with SS exhaust valves and a quality tune. Drive it hard and have no worries! The rest is up to you.

Any opinion on where to purchase the heads?

Yes, There has been Z with dropped valves but I wouldnt worry about it. Just get SS valves if you are worried. Dont let anyone scare you. Drive it and enjoy!

I sent mine out to West Coast Cylinder Heads. 2-4 week turn around time though. Or buy a used set of heads, send them out, then sell your stock heads to recoup the cost. A few vendors here have WCCH heads ready to go if your near any of them.

Came over from the dark side IMO... :D

Might be an option. Whats the normal cost on this fix run?

Welcome. Your Mustang and your new Z are both beautiful rides. There's a lot of knowledge on these forums. If you're thinking of camming it down the road definitely address the heads. WCCH are considered one of the best in the business. That's how performed the work on my heads.

Thanks! I was planning on a Cold Air Kit and tune, but after the valve talk Im not too sure I should do anything to it just yet. Seems some are worried about the stock motor going, and others say its fine until you start installing a cam and other go fast goodies.

There's definitely more modded cars that have dropped valves but stock Z's have as well. Most reputable shops will recommend doing the heads if you're going to cam it. I'm lucky that Cunningham Motorsports (CMS) is in my back yard. But there's plenty of well-respected shops around. Do your research before you decide on a shop bro.

Going to take some getting used to, much different car than the Shelby and previous Fords I have owned, but really enjoying this car. The Weather is not cooperating right now, but I will get her out soon to stretch her legs. :flag: Just picked the car up this morning.

Pictures dont do this color or car justice, color is amazing.

:iagree: I didn't realize it until I bought one...

I went from a lightly modded '03 Cobra to my '06 Z, no regrets here either :)
Welcome and congratulations!

Big congrats for you! It's beautiful, looks exactly like mine. :D
Had thought the price of an '08 2LZ JSB Z06 sitting at my dealer for over a year was more than I could swing. Besides, had always owned red Corvettes so was on the fence concerning JSB.

Fortunately while buying my wife her CTS-4, asked dealer's GM what kind of deal he'd cut me for their 'orphen' Z using my '06 Z51 as a trade. Numbers were great & rest history. Finally got the chance to own a copy, one in a lifetime opportunity for me. Couldn't possibly be any happier and the color's constantly getting compliments. Shocked the bejebbers outa me.

What option level is your car?
Did it have any warranty left?
If not did the dealer offer you one?

Bought a GMPP for mine and since it's been left bone stock should the LS7 injest valve(s) destroying motor a new LS7 will be installed on Chevrolet's dime. *Any engine mod voids warranty, just a FYI in case you didn't know.

Actually both cars are damned nice, but methinks you're really going to appreciate this car coming from a pretty stout muscle car to start.

The main issue is the valve guides, not the valves just by themselves.

OP, nice buy! Enjoy the 700lb weight reduction. As far as the valve issue. Have your heads redone with bronze guides and check the wear on the other componets. Might as well port and mill heads while they are off and throw in a cam:thumbs:. Then enjoy!
