Need help ID'ing a couple parts.
 

This is for a 79 vette.

I was trying to help my husband take off weatherstripping and removed something I shouldn't have under the hood. The part I need helping ID'ing is beside the air intake (?). It was a foam piece that looked and felt like weatherstripping. The picture shows red residue where I peeled it up.

The second piece is beside the windshield. We have the molding but don't know what to put under it. When we removed the metal piece there was old dirt/squishy stuff under it.

This hood seal kit is for an 80-81, not sure what year yours is

I don't believe anything is supposed to go right next to the windshield in the windshield area. There might be some sort of seal padding under the trim piece, more to the inside of the car though
