Too good to be true? A 1999 Corvette Convertible - $17800

I've been looking at C4s in that price range so this sounds too good to be true.

alankb 04-23-2013 10:37 PM

That's actually quite high, IMHO

SilverBullet95 04-23-2013 10:39 PM

Doesn't sound too good to be true to me. not a bad deal, and If it's as well kept as he says, I'd consider it. I'm sure he's basing his price mostly because of miles, but that doesn't matter if its in great condition.

CQRT 04-23-2013 10:47 PM

There are few c4s worth that dough, so not sure what you're seeing...but that seems a fair price..if not a bit high. Do your homework.

SSTG 04-23-2013 10:52 PM

Sounds about right to me. Of course you will get plenty of people on here saying it's way overpriced, it should list for $15,000 blah, blah. If it's in great condition and what you want, buy it! Nice C5's are getting harder to find.

I sold a '99 Nassau blue convertible with 50K miles for about the same price last August. Price is probably in the ball park, especially as we get closer to summer. Offer him a couple of K less and then negotiate as necessary, if you like and want the car.

djlundy 04-23-2013 11:40 PM

Deals are out there

I just purchased a 2000 triple black vert with a little less mileage for $15,500. I waited and looked and had to travel to get it but have seen very good deals available if your patient.

I don't know why anyone would want a torch red convertible.

Price is excellent for a well kept C5..... opinions vary very much.
Mileage means very little to a well maintained C5.

Vetteman Jack 04-23-2013 11:43 PM

That might be a fair price in your area. Car looks decent enough in the pics. If you are interested in it, offer less and go from there.

RC000E 04-23-2013 11:47 PM

I'd say that's a good price to start negotiations....

I've seen cheaper though, with those miles and year.

bladex10 04-23-2013 11:50 PM

Lol.. Thats way overpriced. Where are you guys getting your prices from?

itzza427 04-23-2013 11:55 PM

Paid $18,600 for my 00 FRC 7 years ago, with 55,500 miles. This is just for a point of reference only. Being a convertible adds value. Seems like the upper range of the fair price bracket. It is a nice looking ride from what I acan see.:thumbs::cheers:

^ I agree...

Paid 17,500 for my 2002 Z06 with 51k on it in early 2011...lol...car was mint...

Some people prefer to take the top off or down. That's the only way to drive a vette. I think yours was way overpriced.

At the end of the day, He owns the top of the line most valuable C5 and a vert is still a base model corvette.

What I am trying to say is what's "valuable" to some, means nothing to others. It doesn't take much to get 55 more h.p. out of my "base" model car, plus I can put the top down.

Yeah, well...you must not follow the market too closely.

Go find me that deal now...2 yrs later... There wasn't a z06 under 20k for the following year on here.

I think the only way to drive a vette is on a track, not with the old gray hairs detaching from the scalp in the wind...

And there's a lot more to a Z06 than 55hp bud...you can add 55hp and a Z06 will still spank your ass...

To tell you the truth, I'd probably blow you away with that rinkydink , overpriced z06. What do ya think of that! If your grey hairs are detaching in the wind, you might want to keep your face behind the windshield.

No need for hostility. Stock vs stock the Z06 is quicker, don't know about the spanking. If you run track as you say you must realize driver plays a very big role in spanking department. Once you throw in mods the fender badges don't mean squat. This is a corvette forum so show some respect.
