Choke problem

I just bought a replacement choke for my edelbrock 600 carb and insted of removing the choke it close the choke to a point of stalling the engine. I checked and with the power on the spring in the choke is turning the other way it should. What's the problem? Anyone have seen this before?

Thats pretty strange ,, sounds like an installer issue though

I've never seen this before, but the only way that I can think of that this would happen is if the spring were installed backwards. I don't have any experience with Edelbrock carbs, but take a look inside the choke and see if the spring can be easily removed, flipped over, and re-installed. If that's do-able, it should make the spring expand in the other direction. Let us know, either way, OK?

Can you post a pic of the choke?

I've noticed the lean arrow is pointing the other direction

What do you mean? It's pointing in the wrong direction? If so, there's yer answer. Try to flip that spring over, and let us know how it works out.
