Her Birthday
2 Attachment(s)
3 years ago I picked up my 2008 and the fun began. I ran into the owner of a local speed shop, HP Performance in Mundelein, and before long it was supercharged and ready for the strip or any car show around. We started with local cruise nights and it grew to events like Corvette Adventures at Wisconsin Dells and the Black Hills Corvette Classic in South Dakota. With 2 kids at home the Corvette has been the perfect escape for the 2 of us :yesnod:
My wife is very low maintenance, grew up on a farm in the middle of ND, the best mother and wife anyone could ask for, and with few hobbies I want to do something cool for her birthday this year...
Because I KNOW she would never be on the forum, I'm safe sharing my plan here...
For our 2013 Corvette trip we decided on the National Corvette Homecoming event in Bolling Green KY (July 24-27) and her birthday is the day it starts. She likes to go on these trips so much we've joked about getting her a corvette so we can rack up the miles on hers, not mine:thumbs: and once she saw the Carlisle Blue only available in 2012 model year its been her favorite.
I recently put a deposit on a Grand Sport and I'm going on a "Business Trip" Monday July 1st to go get it. A great friend and fellow Corvette forum member has decided to join me for the 850 mile haul home.:D
HP is going to do a few things to the car and help me hide it for 3 weeks. The day we leave for the Corvette Homecoming trip on July 23rd I am going to go "wash" my 2008 and return with her new GS. I realize this means next year's birthday present will suck but.........I'm rather excited to add a 2nd corvette to the family and see the look on her face when I toss her the key fob.
This may also get me a get out of jail free card to be used at a later time...hunting season, snowmobiling trips, reaching high rates of speed on the highway influenced by my good buddy Doug
