Any one impressed with the wheels black vs chrome

Hello,

So far I am leaning towards getting a yellow 2014 convertible. All my friends say get a black top with black wheels.

This makes sense but for some reason I just don't like black wheels.

I don't like black wheels for the most part on any car.

Is just me or am I just strange? I don't know really how to explain why. I just don't like them.

So I was just curious on everyone's opinions of black vs chrome.

Also the silver plated wheels no upcharge. Chrome almost $2000. You think its worth it? You think it makes a huge difference in the way the 2014 looks? I don't want to spend $2000 but then again I don't want to regret not getting them.

No it's not strange. You are just cursed with good taste.

I'm not a big fan of chrome and I hate black, so I'll be waiting to see what other options there are. I like polished but I don't think they will be available. I have yet to see what they call the "machine faced" ones.

It's not weird just a matter of taste. 4-5 years ago I wanted to get different wheels for my c5 and didn't think that the black wheels looked good, especially with my white vette. I thought it cheapened the look of the car. Now though, I'm a huge fan of black wheels and would take them over chrome or polished any day. And my favorite pic so far of the c7 is an artic white with black wheels and red interior. IMHO looks very modern and sleek. The other color wheel I've gotten to like, maybe even better then black is gunmetal. Go for whatever you like. You're the one driving the c7.

Chrome is for old men. You never see chrome on any serious car like Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, or even Porsche.

I always get back tops on convertibles because it does not show stains.

Do not spend $2000 on any factory wheel option. Instead, take that money and get some REALLY beautiful AFTERMARKET wheels that will really knock you out.

Beyond that, are you going to let me tell you what to order for dinner? Of course not. You do not like the taste of the same foods that I do. Does not mean you are "wrong". Unless your friends are paying for the car, their opinions do not mean squat. Get what YOU want. Enjoy!

I might add that Corvette had no chrome on it at all since 1984. The first chrome didn't show up until I believe was 2003 or 2004. Wheels only. After popular demand. So actually the absence of chrome is nothing new. Not even to Corvette. They've been there, done that. It seems to me that from the pic above, if anything, it is having a resurgence.

Can you imagine the weight that chroming adds. Gotta be a rapper that owns it.

Chrome IMO is horrible, but I still like the various shades of gray or machine wheels available. Too bad they dropped comp gray.

Worth every penny IMO chrome wheels will make your yellow C7 pop and not make it look like a yellow taxi cab like the black wheels will..never mind what anyone says go with what you like!...

The only place chrome looks good on a vette is the key fob

Glenmcp 06-27-2013 08:13 AM

BlueOx 06-27-2013 08:32 AM

Chrome wheels were not available on any C5. Only polished aluminum. The first chrome wheels started early in the C6 model years after they quit offering polished.

lggque 06-27-2013 09:02 AM

Really??....Rappers and other young people stop liking chrome wheels like 7 or 8 years ago. Only older folks like them now.
