Your actually missing 3 parts.

First piece is a 90 degree bracket, that's ball shaped on each end. The mirror attaches to on one end, and the other end sits in the round indent in the mirror bracket.

The second piece is a "U" shaped, spring steel retainer, that fits in the two loops in the mirror bracket on one side, and gets screwed to the bracket on the other side. This retainer holds the 90 degree bracket in place.

The third part is a rubber, interior colored cover, that hides the brackets and hardware.

awesome thanks so much, i think i found all 3 on corvette america, nearly $80 bucks for all 3 pieces

any ideas if there's better deals out there?

That's probably about right. $32 for the cover and $15 for the ball bracket, isn't too bad, but $26 for the "U" retainer is nuts. Only one source for the retainer (Trim Parts), so everyone gets them there, and sells them for the same price.

JUST BE HAPPY YOU CAN STILL BUY THESE PIECES!!!!!! There will be a day where it won't be easy to buy things like this.

There was a time from the mid 70's into the 80's where it was not possible to easily buy some parts for my 68 and then 69. Some parts were very difficult to find. People later began creating businesses were parts were repro'd and available for sale, and then GM Authorized repro parts. Today, I can buy parts for my 68 and 70, which years ago I could not. Of course, there's a quality and fit issue with repro parts, but that's another story....at least they're available.

You're very right good sir. I guess I'm already spoiled by all the repro goods out there!

Two of the parts in the link you need, the ball stud and retainer, but the main mirror bracket you already have. The kit from Ecklers doesn't include the color coded cover.

I have the ball stud and the "U" bracket for $30.00 shipped.
If I have a red cover add another $20.00.
I know I have other colors of covers that u could dye.
