I used to dream of Lamborghinis and Ferarris.

Now I just dream of Z51 C7 Stingrays.

So much for any mags to clock an 11.XX or sub 3.8 0-60 (GM's time)... Now as far as what it does on a road course track, I think it's lived up... but I for sure thought mags would get 3.6-3.7 0-60 and 11.XX 1/4 miles at 120-121.......

Yeah, i was pretty sad as well... I wish GM would have given everyone a 1lt to save on weight... this only freaked everyone out more because of the 3444lb mark using 3lt's extra features. I swear I should work for GM marketing...

One cool note! the top speed is 190mph!

Same here...but...they were all confined to Milford Proving Grounds...known to be slippery as was commented in one of the articles. It may be more interesting to get some real world tests. These seem to be almost packaged and heavily supervised press junkets.

LOL yeah the test driver pictures makes him look to be a 230lbs+ guy easy

The beginning of one of many glowing reviews!

LS6GXP 07-24-2013 04:10 PM

Thanks for posting... Good read

I think we will see better performance out of the C7 Z51 as time go's on. This is just the first test under the watchful eye of GM and not truly independent...

I can't wait for the heads up comparisons same day same conditions same track:D

Looks like I'll be keeping my ZO6 for a few more years. I fully expected these more realistic Mag results for the base C7. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember times for the C6 Z51 were 4.1/60-12.2/1320 manual trans? BTW I love the C7Z51 look,Can't wait to see a C7Z or whatever it's called.

Engine in the wrong place? Do they ever b*itch about the 911's engine being in the wrong place? They really were grasping for straws to find something to complain about.

Mike S 07-24-2013 04:11 PM

Good get. Couldn't find it up yet on the C & D site.

BlueOx 07-24-2013 04:15 PM

I guess if the Z51 can beat the 911 0-60 and 1/4 mi. and brakes better than the 911 and Viper, is better on the skidpad and costs a ton less than the 911 and Viper, I can live with that.

I'll be interested in seeing what the next level does.

Zee0hSix 07-24-2013 04:20 PM

Nice find! Happy to see my Z06 can beat up on the C7.........not by much.

BPhillyc8 07-24-2013 04:35 PM

I am pretty friggen happy. All in all a Great Review!!! Wow!

WhiteAndBlackC7 07-24-2013 04:36 PM

Great review, solidifies my purchase. Although stock numbers arent as strong as I expected, its a great starting point. Long tubes and a tune down the road should make this an 11.7-11.8 car @ 120-122ish no problem. Fine with me.

Plexoer 07-24-2013 04:46 PM

Am I missing something here? Why do they say the F type smokes the Stingray from 0 to 60 and should be avoided at a stoplight? Last I checked even Jaguars own website has its 0 to 60 at 4.2 seconds which is .2 seconds slower than the Stingray.

Over the years, C&D has been a great supporter of the Corvette (read their test of the 427 Convertible, it was a great piece). I think that comment was a little tongue in cheek dig to all mid-engine predictions that have now gone on for 4+ decades.
