Jalopnik review: Best driving impression I've seen
It's nice to see a review that focuses on how the car drives, beyond what the numbers show. The reviewer is one enthusiastic fan of the fabulous new Stingray who appreciates its advancement over the C6.

Lol! The troll car site known as Jalopnik has to post someone else's review because they weren't invited.
Oh, poor babies. |

It's hard to believe that GM will invite them to anything after their unauthorized reveal of the C7 in 2011.
Really... Love the quote: "We can't wait to get our hands on one".... Yah... when you buy one! |
Isn't that motortrends driving impression?

They had many ideas right, but the proportions and angles were so off that their render looks like a much worse car than actual, especially if you post a rear comparison. It's hard for a render to be totally accurate, but the way they were saying "this IS the C7 Corvette" created an expectation which they did not fulfill.

I look at that rendering today and say that is the C7 Corvette. Any details off are so minor it doesn't matter.
|
Jalopnik nailed it. A source at the plant has confirmed that to me. The employee who leaked the photos was supposedly fired.
Interesting to look at the rendering again now that the C7 is public. A few things I notice: *It has the export headlight washers *they nailed the fuel filler door and the door handle "cutout" *Splitter and rocker vent... guessing we'll see those on the ho-po model *They got the Z51 wheels dead-on. *It's clear they saw real pictures of the car. |

There are LOTS of differences and we all know that subtle changes can be very dramatic.
Did they have the general ideal and know they had the real thing? Absolutely. They had it, they showed it to the world and the render did give a pretty dang good impression of what the car would look like. The angles were a bit sharper than they appear IRL and the proportions are not quiet right. IMHO it's only right that GM would exclude them from anything press related. They can use their inside source (if they still have one), so why should they be included by GM marketing. |
