What do you consider a Low VIN

Now that peoples cars are getting built what do you consider a Low VIN for a first year production car would be?

Ken Fichtner 08-28-2013 10:45 AM

It could be as large as the first Thousand or as small as the first 100.

I owned the 27th Corvette built in 1962 and that was the lowest number I ever owned.

It depends who you are talking to. If I had one less then 10 that would be my limit. If I had 999 I would say 1,000.

Good points.

I wonder if for some it is an actual number like 300 or less or the number would be a percent of the total built that first year? If they build 25,000 the first year would 250 be a LOW VIN?

I consider Rick Hendrick's VIN a low VIN: 5100001

VRYALT3R3D 08-28-2013 11:10 AM

It doesn't really matter. You are buying a car, not a low VIN #.

I agree but reading some of the posts on here it appears others are obsessed with a Low VIN. So, I was just wondering what is a Low VIN to those here.

:iagree:

Low to me is anything below #2....

If you're not first, you're last.

This year we'll be seeing more low vins than ever before after Captured Test Fleet cars are sold to the public.

Forum member Shane Wade's C7 was just built, his vin is 00071. The yellow C7 that plant manager Dave Tatman drives is also vin 00071.

In past years CTF cars began with the normal 100001 and customer orders followed them. But for 2014 CTF cars started with 000001 and continued up over 000300. Then when customer order production began last week they started back at 100001 for Mr Hendrick and the rest of us.

Dave Tatman's ride is 000071
Shane Wades order is 100071

interesting ! I wonder what would happen if one of the vehicles was involved in an accident or crime, and a carfax or forensic report was generated on the VIN later on? Is the 1 vs. 0 enough distinction?

Other numbers in the vin are different. Both cars don't have all 17 digits the same.

In 2009 there were three different ZR-1's with vin # 001.

Not at first. But later on in the year some of them will be inspected, updated if necessary, and sold to GM dealers through GM's used car auction network. The dealers will sell them to retail buyers.

Tell that to the few that shelled out 5 grand to pick their vin.

Kinda cool I guess if you car was built the first day of C7 production, beyond that who cares:willy:

Lowest vin I have had is 1110 on my 01 coupe

CJJ 08-28-2013 10:32 PM

I have #52 and I didn't pay crap for it. But 5+2 = 7. My lucky number. pretty stoked.

When I order my C7 Z07, I plan on having the selectible VIN as my only option. :D:thumbs:
