Excellent. Thanks for posting.
Looks like they did their home work.

Thanks for posting and I haven't seen it before.

This is one of the things that POed me (and still does) about my C6. I don't mind sitting in my seats but I hate the fact that the passenger seat back flops around and makes noise.

mb1 09-06-2013 08:17 PM

I really hated the C6 seats, a reason I never pulled the trigger. I really want to see if the comp seats are much better than the regular C7 seats. I've sat in the regular sport seats but not the comp seats. Not sure if its worth another $2K. I like firm and very supportive seats and I'm in a 33/34" jeans so I'm not in too bad of shape.

Nice to know GM listened.... The C6 was a sweet car...but the seats just didn't measure up. I even liked my C5 seats more than the C6.

Is C&D saying that the C6's seats are obsolete?

RussM05 09-06-2013 09:19 PM

Lear Corporation manufactures both the C6 and C7 seats to GM specs. Lear went through bankrupty about the same time that GM did.

The C6 seat shown is actually the passengers seat. The plastic blatter and pad under the bottom cushion is part of the airbag sensor system to vary the amount of force of the airbag in a collision only on the passengers seat. That is not on the driver's seat. And it started to show up around 2008 or 2008.

The C6 seat bottom has no support under the bolsters so they drop down between the frame and center spring system.

It really would not take much to improve on the C6 seats. They are really cheaply made and lack the quality of a car in its price range.

I'm glad they fixed these. Only real gripe I have with my vettes.

May have to upgrade them down the road.

Without any seat springs in the based of the C7 seats, it is likely you will feel bumps more. How much, we will have to see. It is something to consider, though, before automatically checking off the Z51 option if the C7 is going to be your daily driver.

Does Lear make the C7 comp seat? I ask because I've read that it was recaro but the bottom looks identical to the sport seat.

Lear makes both.

Exactly how he explained the C6 seats is why I like them so much..they're comfortable!! and love them on long drives..I don't track my car at all so comfort is all I wanted out of them JMO of course!!

I have to agree. All the bitching about the C6 seats is about not having enough side bolster support at the track. I can sit for eight plus hours in my C6 seats on road trips and they feel great. It will be interesting to hear how comfortable people find the firmer C7 seats on long road trips.

I will say they could have used much better leather on them though...

The seats in my CTS-V are a lot firmer than the ones in my Grand Sport, yet both cars where comfortable on road trips from Atlanta to Cleveland and back.

Ive never experienced my C6 seat flopping around. No doubt the C7 seats are better, but im not sure the C6 seats deserve as much criticism as they have gotten over the years.

Thanks for posting. Nice to see (and feel) all the improvements in the C7 over the C6. Great improvement even if you don't track!

I think that's a stupendous idea, put a bunch of computer fans in the seats. Those never fail! Or squeal like finger nails on a chalkboard. I hope they put something of quality in there with some sort of replaceable filter.

That is always the worry of more "stuff" in a car... the risk of something causing problems. I would still choose to have the "stuff" but it does increase the pain-in-the-a$$ potential.
