Porsche owners...Ha!
Meant to say 'Porsche owner' NOT 'Porsche owners'. My bad!
So I recently moved to Pittsburgh a few months back. I decided to sell my C5 Z and bought a 13' Red Grand Sport with black badging. I've added black centennials with red pinstripe and a black carbon fiber dinoc racing stripe on the nose thus far. So another words...the car looks freakin sweet! Anyhow, my kid brother and his family came to visit and he wanted some pics of the car. So I pulled it out of the garage and over to a parking space with a nice view behind it.(Living in a gated community with condos). As he starts taking pictures I see this guy walking towards his garage looking directly at me and shaking his head in absolute disgust. I'm wondering what could he possibly be so upset about as I've never met or seen him before. He disappears around the corner to his garage then I hear an engine rev. Out comes a new Porsche convertible and he tears by us as we stand there and he's sure not to make eye contact as well.:ack: I just found it amusing since I would have been more than willing to compliment his car and make small talk, but I guess his minds already made up?:willy: |
Not too uncommon for a Porsche owner to have this attitude towards any Corvette. A real shame some people turn a wonderful passion for cars into a snobfest.
|
Not sure why you titled the post Porsche Owners. That makes it sound like you have that feeling that all Porsche owners are like those one individual. Believe it or not there are those in the Corvette community that do the same thing. They two have the attitude of the elitist group.
|
I don't think he'll be good neighbor, thinking his car is better and faster.
|
Please don't lump all Porsche owners together as snobs. I have had a few Porsches in my garage and they get the same admiration as my Corvette even if one is worth 200 times my car. Anyone interested in a Canepa Design 1988 Porsche 959S with 300 miles on it? It is 1 of 29 built. There is one up for bid asking $935,000. I'll take $800,000 right now.

The P car owner just spent more $$ is all.
I figure if a person is happy his thimble is full. Like a small glass is full as is a big bucket, each has the experience of feeling full/happy/satisfied. People into mine is bigger than yours are missing the point of enjoying life. Look inward not outward for satisfaction. Heavy night on the indica... |
You'll always find someone in every crowd that just thinks what they have is better than what others have. Looks like you ran into a real jerk.
|
Yeah, certainly not all Porsche guys are dill weeds...This one certainly was though!
Oh well, I found it more amusing than anything. And yes,Vette guys can be snobs as well. I just won't be one of them! |
Yeah, what a shame. I think most of us have experienced German car snobbery at some point. I personally love BMW's (used to own M3) but don't like most of the people who drive them. I have one of the very few Callaway Corvettes in central TX and find it humorous when the BMW and Porsche owners fly by me and absolutely refuse to look.:D
|
Most Porsche owners I know are car guys and cool. Sounds like this guy is just a douche.
|
There are car guys and then there are not car guys, the P guys here in town put on the cars and coffee and must say there are great group of car guys that in joy all makes of cars.

What the heck, your neighbor will get over it in time. He may still walk over there and take a peek at your machine.

There are people like that in all car types... But I do notice a lot of Porsche owners feel that way about Vettes.

Try to change his mind and if not you got the better set of wheels:rock:
|
For those that do display that attitude, it's nothing more than a sign of immaturity.
