Blind spot indication system...
Am I the only one that is looking to invest in blind spot indication system? The blind spots are huge on this car and I have had other recent cars that had blind spot technology that didn't need it as much as this one. Anyone ever installed an aftermarket solution?

Have it on our XTS and SRX and love it. It will probably make it onto the C7 soon.

Not a system, but studies show the majority do not adjust their mirrors correctly:

It is not acceptable to make cars with blind spots like this. Style is one thing, safety trumps all. I can only imagine how bad it is, the Camaro is the worst I have ever seen. If this is truly worse I feel for every time you have to change lanes.

I agree. The one thing the car really needs...

This is the system I'm having installed - UPON ARRIVAL - on mine:

I had asked one of the engineers at Carlisle on this. He said they looked into it but have difficulty with locations of the required sensors. I have them on my 2012 CTS-V Coupe which also has a large blind spot and they saved me a few times.

The car has a rearview and two side view mirrors. Adjusted correctly, you should be fine.
Glen e's post is what should be done. |

You are very right Glen. Ron Fellows teaches that in his driving school.. My 2007 Vette convertible was terrible. If you didn't have the mirrors adjusted right you could not see anything except the centre waterfall..
Amen! I had a car with the blind spot monitoring system, but the correct mirror adjustment is SO much better as you actually can see cars at all times with one of your three mirrors! Unfortunately, I didn't learn how to adjust my mirrors properly until I was 70 years old and took the AARP Safe Driving Course! |
I have the blind spot warning system on my Infiniti M and love it, always miss it when driving my C6 vert but adjusted for not having it.
Biggest problem I had on the C6 vert with top up was backing up! |
I'm surprised the car didn't come with blind spot mirrors...

"Adjust your mirrors" does not make up for poor design (or lack of current safety technology).

another member chiming in with Glen e . If the outside rear view mirrors are set properly, this should not be a concern.
|
I have been driving my car with the mirrors adjusted properly for many years. If adjusted properly, there is no blind spot on the Corvette. Anyone here ever driven a large box cargo truck or enclosed van? It's all in the mirrors.
I must disagree with the post above referring to poor design. That is not a reasonable assessment in my estimation. |

I have driven trucks, they have much different mirrors that cover a much bigger area, you can not compare the 2, and by the way they have blind spots also. Why do you think it says on the trucks if you can not see me I can not see you??? That is the blind spot. Bottom line is a car should have good visibility. If Ford can figure it out with the Mustang why can't GM on the Camaro? If Prosche can figure it out with the 911/Cayman why can't GM on the Vette? |
