2008 Battery Upgrade
 

The original battery bit the dust in July, and it was replaced with a series 85 Deka battery sold as an O'Rielly battery. The new battery voltage does not last as long original battery did during most of its lifetime and I think I may need to replace it.

Will an Odyssey group 35 or 34R fit? The group 35 appears that it may be too tall in height, and the group 34R may be too large in width and length, but it is close. Does anyone know if either battery will fit, and would a another year model tray be a better fit for the group 34R battery?

My original battery on my 2008 lasted a bit over 5 years, actually still was functioning when I replaced it. Why not just replace yours with the same OEM battery?

I was, but was told that the battery identical to the one in the car was no longer available. If I remember correctly, it was a 85-7yr.

2005--86 series
2006--90 series
2007--90 series
2008--85 series
2009--85 series
2010--85 series

85 series----9 1/16" L X 6 13/16" W X 8" H

86 series----9 1/16" L X 6 13/16" W X 8" H

90 series----9 11/16 L X 6 7/8" W X 6 7/8" H

Every year uses the same size battery except for the 2006 & 2007, which is different. Being that the 85 & 86 series batteries are smaller length and width, then 90 series, the 2006 & 2007 can use the either of them instead of the 90 series as a replacement.

It can't be that complicated. Call a local dealer and ask what they charge for a new battery for your specific car.
The spec for the battery is probably in your Owner Manual, also.

The exact part number your car was made with may not be available, but Delco will make a good battery for your car and so will most other companies.

The replacement battery I installed meets the specs, with a 60 CCA higher rating. However, the battery voltage drops significantly faster than the old battery did before it died. It has not resulted in a problem yet, but I want to be proactive.

Not an answer to your question, since mine is an '05 installed since '09.

I also prefer Mil. Spec. Odyssey Gel type without the corrosive acidic vapor emitted by lead acid type battery.

Like you, I am always proactive, as the photo shown I did the Big 3 to improve OEM set up but still was not satisfied, so last week I installed the 170A alternator along with an additional 1/0 gauge ground, made that a Big 4, now I am happy with the state of charge and can move on to other challenges:

Sorry, I misunderstood your original post and the Odyssey. Thought you just wanted another stock battery...

Guess I'm finally needing a new battery since I don't want to take a chance. Had trouble with a slow turnover yesterday in a parking lot. The driver side outside mirror hasn't gone completely to position for a short while now and the windows just started not going all the way up by about 1/2 in. when turned off. Since the stock Delco, lasted almost 7 years, I'm thinking of just putting the same back in and call it a day. Don't want to have to modify w/new tray, fittment, etc. Maybe I'm making more of it than it is . . .

Decided to nip it in the bud today and went to the dealership to have the battery issue checked out. It was the battery (with corrosion on the neg cable/terminal), so I went ahead and got another Delco and let them put it in. $178.00 . . . done! Better ones out there but also more expensive too. The Delco has faired pretty good here for me and hopefully it will last another 7 years roughly and I'll probably have my '07 that long, as well.
