The Making of my RetroMod Racer
Well guys, A chronicle of my build. I tried to buy one, but he wouldn't sell...So I guess I'll have to make one out of the one I have. Off we go. As found outside of Richmond,VA after a 30 year nap in a old homemade carport.

What are your plans for it?
|
I plan on combining these 4 inspirational cars into mine. These 3 are the reason my car is not going back to bone stock. I can't sleep at night just thinking about it!

Wow, how did you find it, and what kind of money did you have to give ?
That's fairly close to me, and would have been interested myself Wade Mahaffey |

That's fairly close to me, and would have been interested myself Wade Mahaffey I know you purists are gonna have a stroke over this, :hide: but hey, I tried to buy a shiitebox AND a real A/P or B/P racecar with no luck. If I had found a project car I would have saved this one for NCRS flight judging. I will keep the original parts with the car. |
Looking forward to the build.

I'm just curious, why was it sitting so long with only 19,000 miles?
|
Glad to hear you're building it to suit you. This is just a stab in the dark but the one pic of the engine sorta looks like maybe it was a 300 horse 327 with the painted valve covers, small balancer and what might be the 2.5 exhaust manifolds? Any history on the car as to where it started out or where it has been since '65 before it's 30 year nap? Looking forward to seeing pics of your progress.

As a former resident of Chesterfield, and a current Corvette parts guy, I wish you luck and if you have any questions we can help with, let me know.

I know the Putsch Racing car (2nd pic) as I work there :) Its in Europe now but was amazing! The paint scheme looked better every time I saw it. The nice thing about that car and the 58 on our site (www.putschracing.com) is both have titles but are SVRA legal with logbooks. If you plan on resto modding, Id suggest you use 'period' componets vs going to an LS or something. The torqe thruts wheel with the large offset really make the first car stand out. You have TONS of options for modding but a 60's motor and beefed up trans with modern suspension is king in my book! Good luck and have fun!
