Another "fix" option, Trickflow ls7 heads
As i was scrolling thru my fb news feed I came across this article from lsxtv. Trickflow introducing some ls7 heads at sema, what's interesting to me is they're using rocker stands like the early ls motors. Hopefully they perform with the numbers they provided, but most important reliability. If these would've been out before I purchased my heads I may have went with these. What's your opinion on these new heads?

Not sure how these will be but I've used Trick Flow for other cars with good results. It will be nice to have other options.

If they work as well as the 255 LS3 then I would think them to be a front running option.

I've seen goods results from there other heads so hopefully these follow right behind them.
Wonder if 1.7 rockers will be able to be used some they're now using rocker stands, since I think the 1.8 could be part of the issue with the stock heads, I have no evidence in this do don't ask lol |
I for one am excited for these. Trick Flow spends considerable time in R&D of their parts. If these flow well (393 cfm has been posted, but not the lift they achieved it at), they I will seriously consider them at head swap time. Curious if they're developing cams as well...that would be even more awesome! (Are you listening Trick Flow???)

Very nice... I will stay tuned to these. Look forward to hearing about the rocker ratios as well as I suspect the 1.8 might....MIGHT have something to do with our beloved LS7 issues.

the only issues there is are the exhaust valve jobs are way out of round causing excessive wear on the guides as well. hence the head of the exhaust valves... JMO.

It would be nice if TF sold the rocker mount assembly. That is how GM should have built these heads to begin with.

I would be very interested to know why they (GM) deviated from the setup on previous LS heads (the removable pedestal strip). Penny pinching, I guess. But, as they say, that's history, and despite some interesting theories I've seen no evidence that they (GM) got the pedestals wrong (altho there was some discussion some time past about the interface between the trunnion and the pedestal being somewhat different between the LS7 and the LS-previous).
Now if you're going for high lift cam then the stock system leaves you no options for adjustability, altho there may be a source of machined shims out there (for raising the trunnion, which I guess would be the wrong way to go to compensate for increased lift). I have seen other aftermarket high end LS7 heads that have the flat machined surface instead of the cast pedestals, I presume for ready installation of a serious shaft mount system (Jesel, T&D, Crower, etc). I called to inquire. These heads are not available yet. Probably mid-feb. No pricing or specs to share yet. I gave the sales rep my contact info and he said he would call me with specs and options as soon as he had them. He also told me they would sell me the rocker assembly, if wanted.

A little patience goes a long way. I personally am very interested in these heads. Would like to know what kind of potential these heads would have for forced induction or heavy duty road racing applications
