Correct Color for 1957 Corvette Engine Red or Orange

Getting conflicting answers to the color of the 1957 Corvette engine. The one I had was red but I'm being told it should be orange.

Paul

A recent post on the NCRS Forum (yours?) says Chevrolet orange. The 56 blocks were red.

Thanks for the response. The real question would be since the block has a casting date from 1956 J56 but it is for a 1957 Vette. So my question was the color was for a 1957 Corvette with the correct 1956 casting date block.

So are you saying any block with a 1956 date was red or any engine assembled for a 1956 block is red and any block assembled for a 1957 Vette is Orange.

Regards,
Paul

283 engines installed in 57 Chevys, including Corvettes, were orange.

1957 Corvette production started in September of 1956, as I recall.

VHT makes two orange spray paints.
SP123 that they call orange, and SP119 that they call orange red.
Has anyone used either and can say which is correct for a 1957?
