American Racing 15x7

TX-Techman What size American Racing rims did you end up with ?

The 15x7 fit with no back spacing. I didn't want to go to over sized wheels and tires and was looking for an old schol look. The 15x8s would have required backspacing and I really did not want spacers.

Great look Bro:thumbs: I'm going to oder a set of 15 x 8” at 4” backspace is the normal. That way I can run me standards 225 x 70 x 15 red walls can;t wait . :D:D

If you are looking for 17"s, I picked up a set from SLP that look like the ZR1 rims from 93-95 and the car looks really good. Tire size I'm running is a 245/45/17 BFG, they are a direct bolt-on but you need to make sure your e-brake clears. On my 68 that was just a matter of flipping the clip. It handles like a dream, but it is a touch rougher on the road. The rims were $900 bucks, triple chrome And the tires a steal at tire rack for $120 a piece

I recently bought a 1968 Base Model convertible basket case (formerly a 327-manual 4-speed/now a 350-TH400)....stock suspension/stock calipers/no spacers.

According to the forum threads, the front and rear caps are late 70's and the 4 rims have been changed from 15" x 7" width to 15" x 8" width.

Front tires...........BF Goodrich P235-60R15
Rear tires............Hancook P295-50R15 (1.750" "overhang" on each side of the rim---not ideal)

I do not care for the looks of the rear tires, but it was the "style" during that time period.....(and I had my high school '69 convertible Camaro set up the same way...LOL)...So, they will remain until I wear them out/daily driver)

Here's a pic of my new wheels I purchased last fall. American Racing Wheels 15x8 with BF Goodrich P235-60R15 on both front and back. Thinking I would like to go to a wider tire. Stock suspension and brakes all has been gone thru. Bring on Spring:cheers:
