I've read that relocating the brake cable bracket helps a lot, what about offset trailing arms? Is there anything else that needs to be done when installing offset arms? like shorter spring?
I absolutely love these rims and this look
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...1&d=1528473838

the wheels can be ordered from www.ccwheel.com
if email the picture, they may have the specs of wheel/tire combo.
I ordered a set from them for my C5 several years ago and loved them!
On a C3 I’ve seen 275’s and 285’s. Offset trailing arms help build a gap. I went with 19” wheels with 5.4” backspacing and I’m very close! However I have never rubbed the wheel or tire. The tire just can’t buldge out over the rim. 19” wheels barely clear your spring with an aggressive backspace
The fronts are slightly more forgiving. I went with an 18 x 10.5 wheel with 4.9 inch back spacing and I flared the fenders. You could probably fit a 9.5 inch wheels all around and not have to flare your fenders. I hope this helps! Good luck

The car you have pictured is flared.

If you relocate the handbrake cable on the trailing arm then there is no advantage in terms of wheel clearance with offset trailing arms if you have 17"+ wheels - the tyre will hit the chassis before the trailing arm. You may also need to remove or modify the rear sway bar (if fitted) and shorten the rear spring in order to maximize backspace. I have done this (relocated handbrake cable, shortened rear spring, rebent rear sway bar) on my '79.

I run 17x9.5 wheels with 5.05" backspace and 285/40R17on the street, no problems at all except slight rubbing on the frame at full lock on the front. On the track I run 18x10 wheels with 5.54" effective backspace and 295/30r18 semi slicks. These restrict steering lock at the front, probably not great for street use, no problem on the back though. A 295/35R18 is a better diameter, just more expensive tyres - a greater consideration for track use.

There's pictures of my car/wheels if you do a search through this thread with my username. I could go a little wider still - my wheels are well within the arches - but both wheels and tyres increase dramatically in price to go wider than this.

He makes a great point about the sway bar. I have removed mine completely, and changed the spring ratio to compensate. If you go with a 19” wheel you won’t need a shorter spring, but you will pay more for tires as Metalhead points out.

Thinking 18x10's rear, 18x9 front.. What's it take to do the 18x10's?

This is my 18x10 with 5.54" backspace and a 295 tyre. To fit this much backspace you will definitely need to relocate the handbrake cable and re-bend or remove the rear sway bar. Not sure about the spring, you may be ok with 18"s, I'd already shortened mine to fit my 17"s. As you can see though, the tyre fits comfortably inside the guard, you may be able to get away with less backspace (either with the wheel or with spacers) and do less modifications if you're happy for the tyre to push out past the guard a little. Obviously if you fit spacers then you will need to fit longer and preferably larger diameter studs, unless they are really thick "bolt on" spacers.

My 9-car has 18x9 front and 18x10 rear. Rear modifications are; offset trailing arms and shorter spring from Van Steel. Thttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...2b9912cfe9.jpg

US mags u111 18x8 18x9, 245/45r18 and 275/40r18 had to move the parking brake cable for rears. Haven't checked for rub on the front yet.

That looks really good!

Looks Super! I believe these are American Racing “Daisie’s 👍 ... Are these 10 x 15 in the back? Again, i love it!

thank you! on researching I found that they are most likely American racing 200s daisy's! apparently the newer ones are painted center or polished, mine appear to be late 60's early 70's as im reading that the magnesium alloy in the unpolished center turns a goldish color with age. and mid 80;s they started painting and powder coating the centers. I looked at some new daisy 200s rims and they all say painted center or polished though its unknown if you can still the buy the untreated center ones that will turn gold. just a fun fact I was able to learn from you guys! thank you again.

BLUE1972 08-15-2018 08:59 AM

AMERICIAN RACING still makes them. I had them on my 67 and 68 Firebirds. MOTION also used them quite often - sometimes referred to as AR200S

Did you have any mod's to make the wheels and tires fit? Any spring, trailing arm or other changes?

These are the before and after pictures of our 69. The first picture was the day I got her home and the others are after a treatment of Zanio and upgrading the wheels and tires. The new wheels are from American Racing and the tires are 225/70R15 BFG Radial TA. I can't tell you how much the tires improved the ride and drive of the car, was is unbelievable and I love the look.

I like the ride and appearance of 15s but the better tires available in larger diameter do well in corners.
