Congratulations and thank you for your service!

You have a good memory on the 1962 pricing. The base price for a 1962 was $4038. http://www.corvettemuseum.org/librar...icle/1962b.htm

1962. I priced one out at just over 4K, if I remember correctly. I was 21, 1A, not in school or married and Viet Nam was going full steam. I knew I would be drafted (I later joined) so I did not buy the Vette. I got married, built a house, got our twin sons through college and retired in 1996. I got my first Corvette the day before yesterday. She is a brand new 2015 torch red Z51, stick. It took 53 years, but I am in heaven.

Rdcep!

I was eighteen and selling Chevys while going to college. My fist Corvette was a '66 coupe that I raced for the Delaware Valley Corvette Club. I have driven Vettes for 49 years and am on number 19. At 68, I am fairly sure my 2014 (convert. Z51 w/ seven speed) will be my last.
It is fairly difficult to get in and out now but I do plan on keeping this one for ten years.

Head over heels.

He drove a mud 70's Corvette and with the hero worship I already had for him it was a natural transition for me to love his sports car too. Almost bought my first Vette at age 22 however the insurance cost stopped me. Took me till age 37 to buy my first, a 65 roadster I still have. I jokingly refer to it as my Vasectomy Vette as it was in the day of my snipping with a bag of frozen peas in my shorts that I asked my wife if she minded me buying the 65 (my birth year) I found. Since then I've owned two new Vettes, an 04 Le Mans Commemorative Convertible and an 07 Convertible. Sold the 07 last year and bought a Camaro SS (auto) thinking my bad knees and traffic driving would better appreciate a bigger, boulevard cruiser, I was wrong! C7 will join the family some time this year.

What's your story?

I was stationed in Michigan (USAF) 1962-1964, and saw my first C-2. I'd been a Pontiac guy, had a '62 Grand Prix, 389 Tri-power 4 speed but this dark blue '63 SWC took my breath away and stole my heart. Took a few years but managed to swing a used '67, 427-400HP that was 16 months old. I bought the car for $3700 which was astronomical when you only earn $6000 a year! But had to have it so it was beans and hot dogs for the next few years.

Daily driver for 137,000 miles then sat in the barn for a long time. Offered gobs of money over the years but sell a part of your heart?

Completed a body off restoration in 2013 and have averaged about 3,000 miles/year since then. Two best of show, two best of class and four people's choice awards.

My wife is figuring on burying me in it!

I was about 10 and say an orange C3 with tan interior. That did it for me. Though high school I loved the yellow and bought my first Vette in 2005. C7 yellow. Traded it about a year ago with just 6,700 miles on it and now I have the 2015 Z06. I miss my first baby, but having fun with the Z!

In 1966 I bought a 1954 Corvette from the auto shop teacher at the local high school and I was an auto parts salesman for a local auto supply co. I drove the car every day for three years and enjoyed every minute. True Love, Great Memories, sold it because I needed money, Back then I purchased it for $1200.00 and then sold it about 4 years later for $2000.00. I just ordered a new 2016 and I am trying to keep it in the same Color family as a reminder of the 54. (as close as I can).

I went to the car show in 2014 and saw this:

I was looking to buy a fun car with a budget around $20K. See what happened:)

Yep, the C3 did it for me too.

While I saw a new 1953 Vette in 1953 at 11 years old, and then I saw a 1954 and a 1955 in 1954 and 1955 respectively, it wasn't until the Chevrolet dealer in North Little Rock, Arkansas got a new 1956, in 1956, that I fell in love with the Corvette. I knew one day I would have one identical to that 56, and I do.

I was raking leaves one time and seen a 1960 red corvette that was all cleaned up drive by slowly. I thought the car was stunning. I purchased my first Corvette when I was 21 years old. It was a 1969 dark metallic blue 350/350 HP roadster with a black interior and white top. The first ride I ever had was in a 1957 Corvette that a co-worker at McDonald's owned and it needed a lot of work but he drove it every day and it seemed to run just fine. I couldn't believe how rough and noisy it was however it was still very impressive. The car needed paint very badly and it was a non factory hugger orange type of color. The interior and everything was all there and everything needed restoration. I don't know what ever happened to the car. I have owned several Corvettes and muscle cars and at this time I have an 05 with 38,000 miles. I plan on getting a C7 next time around but am not in a big hurry since the C6 is a great car.
