Biggest flaw of C7
 

i know a lot of people will disagree on this one but, its my opinion and sticking to it. i went to stroudsburg, chevy the other day to look at the c7 (thinking of trading my 013) they have two on the floor. one is a cyber gray 2lt none z51. the other, is a/w z51 3lt. both beautiful cars. the only thing that really bothered me about the car is "the blind spots" its horrible trying to see rear or sides. it reminds me of the honda cr-z my wife and i looked at a few years back. (wound up buying a toyota) at least the c6 has the wrap around glass that makes it more tolerable. i wish i could test drive the vehicle to get a better perspective of things. sitting in the car i try to envision being on the road looking side to side and in the rear view mirror just seemed a bit difficult.:ack: i welcome all opinions, thank you.:thumbs:

Once the mirrors are adjusted correctly, which many people can't accomplish apparently, the blindspots are no worse than on many of the other cars I have driven.

I've driven a pickup truck since 1987, with the exception of 2008 - 2010 when I had a Caddy CTS. I found that I learned to use my side mirrors and it is natural to me now.

To be honest I rented a C7 before I ordered mine and I drove it around for about 5 hours and I never noticed any blind spots...must have been because I was using my mirrors and I never really noticed it.

The less of the side of the car you see in your side view mirrors means the more of the blind spot you do see in them... Just adjust your mirrors properly.

The blind spots are a bit big. It is nothing that adjusting the mirrors and getting used it cannot fix. But, if it is a show stopper for you, then it is not the car for you.

The biggest flaw with the C7Z51 is I do not have one....:yesnod:

I thought it might be a problem, but now that I have mine and have put 1100 miles on it, it is not an issue. Adjust the mirrors correctly (most have them pointed too far inward) and it is a non-issue. You should not see ANY of the side of your car. Figures 1 and 4 show the correct adjustment, figures 2 and 5 show incorrect adjustment:

No biggie at all for me either...

I have driven moving vans without a rear window, and have carried campers in the bed of my truck that totally blocked the rear window, and I have towed regular campers and 5th wheel campers that totally blocked my rear window and have never had a problem. I have not been in a C7 yet but I doubt the C7 will be a worst than that the trucks I drive

I agree that the mirrors need to be adjusted outward to compensate for the blind spot. My C7 convertible is substantially worse than my C6 because the seat appears lower and the deck lid higher blocking most of the view when you turn your head. Will take time to get use to. My only other complaint is programming the radio stations. That requires patience and beer. Otherwise the Corvette exceeds all my expectations.

That is exactly how I adjusted mine and no problems keeping track of vehicles in my vacinity.

When I test drove the car I couldn't believe how bad the rear visibility was (I have no experience with Corvettes), that said, I'm not going to be passed very often :rofl:

I haven't found the C7 to be much worse than the C6 during normal driving. Using the mirrors is easy for that.

The only issue I have with the C7 is trying to get used to backing up without being able to have much of a view out of the window. The small window, and Z51 spoiler makes it almost pointless to turn your head to look.

Backing out of an angled parking space is not much of a problem, but backing down a long driveway is. The camera works fine, but you can't see the sides of the driveway until you run off it. I've joked about painting a center line on the driveway :D

I've found the backup camera to be quite effective myself....

The only issue I have found to date is; the door opening latch cutout isn't large enough. I closed the door on my finger, upper edge. Boy did that hurt, still black and blue.

Not hard at all, is it. Test the adjustment by (this IS hard) letting other traffic pass you and watch them as they move directly from rear view to side view mirrors without disappearing in between.

Also, get a convertible! There go your blind spots.
