People going out of their way to check out your car
 

Happened twice today! The first was when I walked out to my car after work. A guy was just standing there admiring it; I walked up and he said "wow is this your car?! Looks like a rocket ship!" We had a good conversation for about 10-15 minutes about it, I opened the car and the hood and let him look around, fired her up, etc. Then, his wife yelled for him all the way across the parking lot.

The second was while I was polishing it this evening. Cop drove by, pulled over and got out. We had a long convo, he offered to trade cars haha. Showed him the works as well.

Happy that people still appreciate these cars. I actually enjoy telling people about it when they ask. Heck, I've even let a little kid (neighbor, probably 5 years old) sit in it because he asked "can I have your car mister." Nice to see people's faces light up over something so simple

High Five! And that's what being a car lover is all about. That thrill of having something unique. You sure don't those kinda thrills when you drive a caravan :-)

My first Corvette was an 03 Millennium Yellow Coupe. I pulled into McDonald's one day and as I was getting out of the car noticed a pretty girl in the drive-through taking a photo of the car with her phone.

What kills me is when they ask "How much is it worth?" After paying almost $52K in 01, I'd be lucky to get $18K, now. Still, it does get attention at times.

Yes, IF they ask "How much did it cost?". It'd be a bit of a stretch to say it's worth $52K, today, although I have no doubt that some people would think it to be true.....

Back in 79 when I had my 68 vert, folks would ask me if it were new. Being only 21, I'd ask "Do I look like I could afford a new one? If so, THANKS!":D

I don't really like it to be honest... I've never been into car shows and stuff like that I just do it for my own pleasure and not for other people's attention... it does make me proud if someone appreciates my car but I don't like if they follow me or go out of their way to track me down

I had one guy at a gas station start up a conversation but since I'm still young(23) and look a little younger people usually ignore me...

It is nice that a car 10+ years old still gets compliments and draws a lot of attention. GM did a great job on the design of the C5.

I see this alot too with mine. When I drive my Trans Am people constantly come up to me and start conversations about it. When I'm in the Vette however people seem to be alot more stand-offish about it. I believe age is a big factor in that. (26 here)

What I get a lot is people giving me the " Lite um up " signal, I usually oblige if possible. :D

I agree, and enjoy talking to people about my vette's. Our pest control guy came through the other day on the annual inspection. When we got to the garage we spent about 20 minutes just talking cars in general. He was a Mustang guy, but I still enjoyed the conversation.

Your comment about the 5 yo who got in your car hits home too. I was 6 when I sat in my neighbor's '63 split window. That started my love for Corvettes specifically, as I was already interested in cars in general. You may have just initiated another gear head:thumbs:

I never mind talking to someone about my car. It always cracks me up when they ask me what year it is, then throw out a guess of '08+. :lol:

It seems everytime I take my Vette to the local gas station I get compliments and gawkers alike. Everyone seems to love a great looking Vette!

Very good day you had. That is always a nice feeling when people go out of their way to be nice since people are usually quick to act in a negative way rather than positive these days.

You should have posted a pic or several of your ride in the thread too! Looks great from your avatar!

I get many compliments like that, and appreciate them. I always try to smile, wave, or have a nice friendly chat if time allows.
I like to leave people, who compliment Corvette, with a good feeling about the car, and people who drive them.

I think some, who drive newer cars, could do better at this, from what I read in other forums. Seems to me, like good Public Relations, is never a bad thing.....
