1988 C4 license plate
I paid for this personalized license plate 1988 C4 over a month ago. The state of AZ MVD sent me a letter telling me it has been put on hold and needs to go before a review board or something ? Rather than make a call to nowhere I drove to a local MVD and waited to be seen. 20 minutes later I was told that the plate 1988 C4 has the digits "88" and that the american nazi party and skin heads use "88" in reference to adolf hitler's birthday. I asked the young lady if I look like a nazi ? We laughed and I asked when will I know something ? She gave me a number to call and I was on my way. Give it a couple weeks she said. Yesterday the MVD called me and the director approved my plate ! I originally paid for and requested the plate online. The website offers a space where you must explain the meaning of your plate. I simply said 1988 is the year of the car and that Corvette's made from 1984-1996 are called C4's. Nobody could give it a pass despite the explanation except for the director of special plates. AZ tax dollars hard at work.

Imagine if your car was a "69". :D

Good grief!! Glad you got your plate!
I will say many year back when my wife got the plate for her '86 Jeep CJ-7 she got 'TOPLES' and the clerk, a rather older lady, gave her a nasty look. I then said 'She's NOT a dancer...the Jeep has a removable top' and that kinda smoothed things over.:hide: Hang around cars long enough and you discover those in the world who truly have zero interest in vehicles for anything more than transportation. Add in a dose of no humor and they can be a bit curmudgeonish.:ack: Later, Lee |
People in America are way, WAY too sensitive. Topless is great, for a CJ!
I'm not even offended by that! |
I would guess that the majority of the population would not even know that. Silly.

Thats really pushing the P.C. thing to the limit I think.
What about GM's decision to put SS on the side of Camaros and 60's Impalas? I don't think they would want them associated with Nazi staff cars.:crazy2: |
Elwood Blues said it best, " I hate the nazi's." I'm so pleased with my personalized plate. I had my heart dead set on 1988 C4 and was at a loss for another idea. When they first told me it had been refused my thoughts were the C4 was seen as explosive thus violent. When she said no the nazi reference was the reason it made me mad. But no matter now all is good. Now I'm waiting for the inmates to make my plate.

Wonder if they would object to 81.

I have in. New York C4 1985 it took all of 2 weeks. Of course I asked for 1985 C4 first but it was already issued.

My C4 plate was inspired by a friend who has "97 C5" on his car.
I liked the idea of having the year on the license plate: http://www.misterpeachy.com/VettePic...986_&_2013.jpg |

OK you are not out in the cold. Georgia denied mine for two reasons when I ask for 88 C4 because 88 was a NEO NATZI symbol and C4 was an EXPLOSIVE.

Mesa, I had to look again at your '86. At first glance the reflection looked like body damage like you had backed into something :ack:
Years ago in New York there was an advertising agency named Faller, Klenk & Quinlan. They wanted matching license plates that read "FKQ" and a number....they were denied. The whole thing just smacks of government stupidity. Guarding our morals against "dirty" plate numbers while the rest of society goes downhill like a bobsled. :( |

Nice  worth the wait. Ever notice when you type C4 in a search engine, what's with all these French cars? Bureaucracy is worldwide, when i ordered my personalised plate "FASST" Got a call saying it was not appropriate ?!?!:crazy2: Some saying that it will encourage people to drive fast ....:crazy2: Well i said i can drive my Corvette VERY FAST on a racetrack (but that is beside the point) After a few calls i got them. Note they did not really notice "ASS" if you take the first and last letter away :cheers: http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...mnvettepic.jpg |
