Anyone using "leave-in" jacking pucks?
 

Just wondering if they stay seated and don't slip out. Seems to me GM should/could have done something like this from the factory.

I had a set of the "hockey puck" type and didn't like how loose they were when using them. The ones I had seemed to not fit the openings correctly and would slide around while trying to get them set in their places. The leave-in style seems to make more sense, but at twice the price of other types I'm wondering if they're worth it.

I have had them for 3-4 months now. Got them from Corvette Mods. No problems with them slipping out. They seem pretty secure. They fit a bit loose and can easily spin around, but I don't think they would come out easily. :thumbs:

Yep.....I actually bought the BMW pucks....the "fingers" snap into the slots in the frame rail & have been in place for at least 5 or 6 years without any problems.

I agree with you seems to me GM could have done that, I just put some silicone an mine and they stayed in place.

It would be nice if there is some open space somewhere around the pucks, so any water that gets inside the frame from other places has a place to drain out.

Where do you get the BMW pucks? BMW dealer? How much?

I bought mine from Corvettemods.com and they work great and have stayed in place.

I sealed mine with some "Moretite" caulking cord so there's no wiggle but they're still removable.
Also drilled a slightly angled 5/16" hole in the bottoms as I think these are the only drain holes in the frame.

What's the huge advantage of them anyway? Unless you jack your car up super often, I don't see what the big deal is about putting them in and out. I have one removable puck and I've never had an occasion where I needed a second one, let alone one in all four places. :confused2:

Nine years ago I had four pucks. Today I have two. I forget to remove them after use. Saturday I had the two in while installing my Corsa exhaust system and forgot to remove them. After the test drive one was in the street a few houses away and the other was still attached. Permanente ones would be nice. :thumbs:

Probably good idea. Took the vette to discount tires because a
rear would not hold air. They just slid a couple of jack under the
drivers side. Notice now the drivers door does not open and shut
as smoothly. Maybe if had something under there they could
have seen where to put the jacks

I can't imagine why you would want the pucks to be removable, they don't get in the way and it would be easy to forget to tell the tire place that you have pucks or remember to put them in yourself.

The forgotten pucks could result in thousands of dollars of damage to the underside of our cars. Why not put them in semi-permanently? Goof proofed.

I have used since 2000, std hockey pucks, costs about $2 each, new. I use an adhesive called GOOP from Home Depot. It holds like iron my if you need to remove them you can use a fishing line to saw them away from the adhesive or simply use a screwdriver to pry them loose.

2000 C5 ,4 pucks stayed on for 4 years, 2004 C5,4 pucks stayed on for 8 years, current C6, 4 pucks have been on 2 years and aren going anywhere.

I love corvettemods but why pay anything over $8 for new pucks or free from your hockey friends and $0.50 worth of GOOP to protect yourself even if you forget to use them ?

Nobody but me has jacked mine up since I've owned it. I would never let a tire shop do it. When I replaced the tires I put it on jack stands in my garage and took the tires and wheels to a tire place.

I guess that's probably why I don't see the advantage of them. YMMV.
