1980 Corvette - A dream come true

I hope you understand that it was my dream come true by name: CORVETTE!
We would also like to explain what are the changes made and what are my doubts.

I've always wanted a corvette corvette C3 ... just a 80s ... it will always present the ITS line , it will be Because It has always fascinated me, it will be for ITS technology ( air conditioning , power steering , automatic transmission , cruise control, alarm, 4 disk brakes , etc ...) That in Those Days in Italy all the accessories were really unusual ... it will be ... it will be ... now it 's mine !

I've always wanted a corvette corvette C3 ... just a 80s ... it will always present its line , it will be because it has always fascinated me , it will be for its technology (air conditioning, power steering , automatic transmission, cruise control, alarm, 4 brakes disk , etc. .. ) that in those days in Italy all the accessories were really unusual ... it will be ... it will be ... now it's mine!

3 key moments to be happy with a Corvette !

It all began in the first days of July 2010 ( coincidence or fate ... ) I found myself next to a customer by a retailer american cars but especially from movies / TV series ( KITT , Herby , DeLorean , etc. . ) In the province of Bergamo.

I had no intention of buying a car, because they already had a modern, a bit 'special , however I went to look at those wonders . There were also two Corvette C3 . I asked for some information on a little ' all the cars ... until I got to the corvette .

Without even thinking, at the end of all the explanations he gave me , I said, " Maybe one day I too will have a Corvette , but first I have to sell my car " and he replied, "We can do a trade ! " From that moment my life has changed ! (first key moment)

I did not think in any way such a thing ... especially since I was taken with the entire organization of my marriage ... from them in two months I would get married ! I went home and I mentioned it all to my future wife ... even if you do not believe me , but I told him everything without really considering the phrase " we can make a trade ."

My wife ( I knew he would glide and / or would give me crazy ) came up with this phrase: " What a beautiful corvette that , why do not you care ? " ( Second key moment ) . He left me stunned and speechless for a few days ... I did not realize really what you had told me really !

That dealer gave me a really ridiculous offer for my car , and nothing came of it , but decided to see what it offered over the web.

There were 4 corvettes for sale with the features I was looking for . Before I turned in all an email asking for the assessment of my car ( mainly because these dealers were really far from Milan) .

Only one I had made an offer in the real value of my car and I decided to go to see the corvette selling .

This was the first time I saw her and immediately snapped a photo:

It was love at first sight!

Given my lack of experience in motorsport, I tried to consult mechanical and / or industry specialists to come to visionarla ... but since the summer ... no one could come!! So I trusted the advice they were given to me (put it on the deck and see if you embark, oil leaks, if brake, if marching tents on one side ... the gears change all ... pneaumatici ... rust ... etc.). Went to revise it and try it with a lot of list in hand.

Apart from a couple of stupid (bad closed the bonnet, the internal air fan not working, let alone the radio), spuntai everything and everything was fine! I could not believe it!

Returning after the test drive, I told everything to my future wife and her "Let's take it!" (Third key moment)

And from there is history ...

The car delivered to me two days before the wedding with American plate and christened them the ANNY ... diminutive Anniversary.

After several years ... after several people known of this great world (first ignored the very existence), by reading all sorts of disappointments discovered immediately after the purchase and / or over the next months, I consider myself very lucky because apart some rooms marginal and / or routine, making her see by mechanics, all in all it was and is in good condition.

Sometimes even when the days are not the best, heavy, with thousands of trouble, strife and my head is about to burst, the fact to go home, open the cler of the garage and see "My Corvette", everything takes second plan and makes me think that sometimes dreams can become reality.

That is a great story. I am happy that you were able to fulfill a dream of one day owning a C-3. To me the 80-82s are the sexiest of the 3rd generation Corvette and white is a great color for those years. I am sure many of us also find ourselves going into our garages and just stand there staring at our Vettes. So congratulations. And may you, Your wife and Anny have a lot of fun.

Looks surprisingly similar to my new and first vette... 1981! Congratulations! I share your excitement and enthusiasm entirely!

Congrats! You seem really happy with your new Corvette, which is what you want. You need the passion to own one of these Bad Boys. I bought my very first '80 brand new right off the dealer's lot. It was white with the claret interior, exactly like yours. Seeing your pictures really brought back some memories.

Glad you were able to make your dream come true! My dream Vettes are a 1991 Turquoise ZR1 or a 1958-60 (I would take another '61-'62) in Roman Red with white coves and soft top or Tasco Turquoise. I miss my C1's. There is almost an identical turquoise 1960 with both tops only 4-5 streets away from me. SciVette you may even know where this 1960 is, it is near the Azalea district, but closer to Chilis.I don't want to tell you too much as you might try and grab it haha. The same neighborhood has lots of neat older cars that just sit such as 2- '70-'73 Trans ams stashed in a shed, a red '80 TA, a '67 Camaro with a SBC, tunnel ram, nitrous, etc. There is also a beige '79 C3 that has flat tires and is owned by a lady who works at the mall. I have her card, she wants a reasonable price. Anyways I have my eyes on this 1960, as well as another local C1, a white '62 with both tops. Both owners are in the low $30K mark. This '60 has sat virtually 12 years as the guy lost his family in a car accident. It runs, it was just restored when he lost his family. The guy thinks the car is worth $30K.

I had a bunch of Vettes, now I only have my '72 left. I need a new truck, I have a nice budget for one…but….my dream since selling all of my C1s are to get another C1 or a '91 and KEEP it. My budget is right in there where these surprisingly close C1s are price wise. (I would rather get a C1 first as the prices rise everyday while C4's are still decreasing.)

I am glad that your dream was not a dream, it is reality. Your '80 is very pretty. It will make everyone who wants a Vette want one. I am proud of you for your success. :)

I love my '72, more than anyone can really ever know…(but then again…this is a place for people in love with their Vettes!) but my dream is a '60 Vette. I was pretty much raised in C1's. So I have a soft spot for C1's. If you can make your dream come true, I know anyone can…myself included. I can make it happen. It will happen. But I do need a new truck. So I am torn on what I ought to do.

All of these 1980's sure make me want an '80. And SciVette, I really mean you have a great looking car. I know you wanted a chrome C3, but don't feel bad you didn't get one….your car is a real looker. I just got Orange Crush home Saturday, I did a little bit of headlight assembling and painting today. The car is now going to get a frame on restoration as the new paint makes everything else that was original look bad.

I look forward to seeing more pictures and reading more stories about your dream come true!

Brandon :)

LOL... No the problem is I want both Brandon! I don't see too many C1s here in T-town, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks to everyone who dreams great to share with all of you, especially because you are in the home of the corvette!

Congratulations to all of you for your Vette ... really fantastic! Crazy for Vette from 80-82!

Do you know which is my other dream? Come to america!
I've never seen ... but one day ... I do not know when it will taste me ... for good!

The first pictures of the peaks had ruined the interior, the steering wheel fell apart.
When I went to see it was as you see it in pictures ... interior just redone! What luck I had!

RobyC3 05-06-2014 02:51 AM

I tried to retrace the history of my Vette but I did not go that far.

Through the Title I found out who was the owner, but I think it was a car dealer, but ... but ... one day my Vette :D. .. helped me know how? Smontanto the door panel found inside a sign "FOR SALE"! The sign of the owner of my Vette!

From the phone number, I climbed to the owner's name, address ... I tried to call, but unfortunately none risponte!
What I do know is that it comes from Raynham, Massachusetts.

Too bad ... I would have liked to go back to the first owner and know its history
