Cruze night in Longmont CO on 5/17

The ColoRODans are hosting a cruise night in Longmont (north of Denver) this Saturday evening from 6-11:00 pm. There are hundreds of cars and a couple of thousand spectators along Main Street (US 287) in Longmont. It is always great fun.

I am not a member of the ColoRODans, but this is an event I never miss. Reminds of my days in the 60's and 70's when we drove up and down Main all night on a couple of bucks worth of gas, and then headed out to Airport road for a bit of street racing (I know, now very un PC).

Come on over and look for me in my frickin' red Z06. :auto:

That brings back memories. I was a member of the ColoRODans for many years, and served as Treasurer for a while when we lived there in the 80's. Do they still have the annual Rod Run every year?

The 44th Annual Rod Festival is scheduled for July 25, 26, and 27. There will be a Concert, Cackle Fest (I don't know what that is) another Saturday cruise night and the Sunday Show-N-Shine.

Come on over. Your C7 will look great on the cruise.

A crackle fest I believe is when 70's era top fuel cars fire up their engines. A guy in my neighborhood has one every July 4th. He usually has about 5 or 6 cars show, it's a hoot!

I didn't think cruising in Longmont was still a thing... The city banned it years ago.

The ColoRODans get together with the city and set up a couple of cruise nights a year. Other than that, it is banned. Crusie nights here are a bit of time travel back to the 60's and 70's. Come on up (if the weather cooperates).

Thank you, now that you explain it, I do remember. I think they had one last year, and it woke up the whole town.

At the risk of dating myself :D we never cruised in the 60's. It was dragin' main, but the theory was the same, pick up some ladies, a bit of light to light racing and then out to the country for some serious racing. We may have even imbibed a bit of 3.2 beer. I was mostly an observer, as I had no funds for a street racer in those days.
