Results of my build...

I haven't posted too much about my build and the progress I made throughout the months but now the car is together and running strong so now is as good a time as any... I started on it late last year and ran into some snags with the pulley alignment and once I got that sorted out I headed to Bret's (blownbluez06 for anyone who doesn't already know him) for help with the alky install and tuning... besides it being cold as balls, that day went really good until we were out tuning and hit 5k rpm and my clutch let go:ack:... I guess now I have to install the act twin disc that has been sitting in my closet for 2 years lol... so I tackled that next along with upgrading to poly torque tube couplers... next is to finally head back to Bret's for the final tuning... that day went great and the car was pulling hard with no slippage and shifting great finally, I hit 12psi at redline, a little more than I was expecting but now I'm glad it wasn't less... threw it on a dyno a few days later just for sh*ts and giggles and here is the result... we had trouble getting it to hold on the dyno and there is some spinning up top and it might have a little more in it but I'm happy:D

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...ploads/008.jpg

here's the specs on the car
-02z, stock block/stock heads
-d1sc head unit
-blower cam
-longtubes, no cats, corsa xtreme
-dual nozzle alky kit and supporting fuel system upgrades

the car runs great and pulls like crazy!... I want to personally thank Bret for all the help and advice he has given me along the way... I know at some points I was probably annoying the hell out of him but he always got back with me... anyone considering him to do work or tuning on your car you are in great hands

That is awesome and the results are fantastic (you numbers are real similar to what I have too with my D1, however I got a A4 tranny as opposed to the Manual 6 ) -

Thanks,Matt

Always a pleasure Neutron. I appreciate you trusting me with your car and hope you enjoy making victims out of those that are too deaf to to hear or too ignorant to know what that noise is, coming out from under your hood. :smash:
:D

my z has always felt like it was lacking something even with a cam and boltons, I know it wasn't slow it just felt that way to me... but now it feels like it has some balls!... I'm definitely going to have some fun with it until I decide I need more

man I think we had the 2 longest builds on here lol, glad both are up and running strong now... I don't think mine compares to a lot of the cars in here but I'll post in that thread

What size pulley? Which intercooler?

Awesome results. Bet its alot of fun

neutron82 06-03-2014 11:29 AM

4.38 pulley

Chicago1 06-03-2014 12:41 PM

yeah the builds took awhile but look at our results!!! now to deal with the tractions issues right

neutron82 06-03-2014 12:55 PM

no kidding, I have nt05r's and if I want to it will roast them from 1st to part way through 3rd... I have to stay in it about halfway in the upper rpms of 1st and 2nd to keep it manageable and then nail it in 3rd... or 60-70 rolls on the highway works best haha... I'm wanting to do rear flares soon so hopefully some 345's will help out a bit

NukeC5 06-03-2014 01:22 PM

I run around all the time with MT ET streets. You could have a lot of fun with a set :D, lots more traction.

I am running 15.5 PSI on the 347 with an A4 Tranny and a pretty mild cam.

And as for my exhaust I am running the full 3" C6 ZR1 Manifolds, Cats, Xpipe into 3" B&B Fusion Mufflers -

I know what you're talking about, it is fun and plenty of power!

Thanks,Matt
