1995 ZR-1 Valuation
 

I have a chance to buy a '95 w/ 1800 (not 18,000) miles, all documentation, 2 tops, slight delamination starting top passenger side. Car is flawless, otherwise. Unmodified virgin from factory. Suspect I would have to change the injectors for a start, but want to keep it totally stock. Everyone seems to be very high on the Haibeck chip, though.

Asking $42,000. I've seen asking prices in the $50s for these low mileage cars, but I think low to mid $40s is the sweet spot now.

Any opinions on where this car should be priced is appreciated.

Market price currently! If the miles are kept low it will increase in price as years go by.

ON 7/5/2007 the car was at Rogers Corvettes in FL 1814mi asking price of $54,900

I don't have any Pictures of this one.
Do you know if it has Dunn Heads?
It is only a couple before mine. at #268!

See Demps' link above - that is the car w/pics. The ZR-1 Registry site does not list that # as having both Dunn's heads, but the list is not inclusive, so it's possible. BTW, I understand the parts #s are interchangeable between Birmyl & Dunn, so how can you tell which one you have?

"So, the only way to determine if a car has A.L. Dunn heads, is to be able to recognize them when you examine the car. Vehicle production S/N is no guarantee. To see if you have Dunn heads using a mirror look for a triangular shaped tensioner cover on the passenger side heads with 3 bolts and a center adjuster that lies under the cam cover. Look for a little casting mark with a mirror just under the cam covers of A.L. Dunn heads - left of the dipstick as you look through the wheel well on the passenger side. You will see a sort of rolling scroll (a similar font is bauhaus 93 if you look in WORD or AOL) that reads "dunn" in all small letters; and then what appears to be an "l" on the left side head, and an "r" on the right side head. The Dunn casting mark is also present on the driver's side in about the same position."

The later LT5 injectors are pretty ethanol-resistant so you probably will not have to replace them.

Well priced as is, but wouldn't hurt to start at 38 and try to close at 40.
If you get it, it would be very well bought!

I think that's a fair price for the car. I know of a red/red 95 with I believe 1400 miles and the owner is firm at 50K.

And he will have it for awhile.

Question to all: I just saw the pics on this '95 ZR-1 in question & it definitely is starting the delamination process on the upper passenger side, maybe slightly on the driver side. How much of an impact will that have on price & will it continue to get worse or does it stop at a certain point? I believe you can use a regular C4 windshield as replacement, but that also has to impact price/collectibility. Is it better to have an original delaminating windshield or a perfect replacement. I know it's next to impossible to find an original replacement.

Have to talk to inspector in morning for full scoop.

Use the delam as the reason for the suggested 38 offer with a 40 close price.

Frankly, most of us accept the delam as is, and simply ignore it unless it becomes way too extensive.

Delam would not affect my buy decision at all.

I would leave as is.

Replacements are around, but expect to pay about $ 2,000.00

Most owners simply replace with a regular Corvette windshield and forget about it.
That is,if they even bother replacing it.

Stop obsessing, and start with the negotiation.

It sounds like a near perfect car that is well priced as is.

Someone will soon realize that and become the new owner

You're right. I'd been looking at the car online for a while and this morning I went to see it in person. It looked better to me than the new ZR-1 I bought off the showroom floor in May 1990. After only a little bit of thought, I bought the car this afternoon...put my deposit down and will pick up the car in a few days after the windshield has been replaced. Sorry guys, I've lost cars before by thinking about them too long.

I would not replace that windshield,at least not right away.Once the windshield is replaced theres a chance it will leak not to mention scratching the windshield frame causing a possibility for rust.Sounds like the delam is very minor.I cant see why anybody would spend the money on an NOS Z windshield when the chances are the new one will do the same thing.When the times comes Ill replace mine with a non Z part.Ive done this before and will put it off for as long as possible,not looking forward to it.:ackhttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...te025Small.jpg
