Updating navigation
Anyone know the process for updating the navigation on the C7?

already???

I'm sure if and when an update for the Nav becomes available, it will be a case of take it dealership and they the update similarly to how they update the other systems on the car. At this point, I don't think there have been any updates to the Nav portion of the infotainment system.

Navteq comes out around February or March. The last system I had used an SD card for the update. I don't think you'll need to update until 1Q 2015.

If you go to the GM map update site and enter 2014 corvette, you'll be told you already have the latest version. If you email them, they'll tell you the same thing.
A bunch of buttons deep on the onboard system, you'll be able to get the map version. At delivery, ask the dealer during prep to verify the latest version is installed Given the car has both USB and SD slots, you should be able to download from the GM map site, then copy to a USB stick or SD card, then upload to the car. |

When I did my update, the option appeared when the SD card was entered into the slot. http://www.ls2.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif http://www.ls2.com/forums/images/smi...eadscratch.gif

Was this on a factory GM navigation unit or an aftermarket head unit?
Aftermarket head, Pioneer. The same company produces the maps for the Pioneer that did the GM. The Pioneer had DVD, USB and SD sources. There was no menu item for "Update" and the update action became available when I put in the SD card. Elmer |
I guess it is possible, but I would be very surprised if you had to take it to the dealership for updated when the update becomes available.

Talk about apples & oranges!!
No, actually I was responding to your statement of "No menu item". There was a huge menu on the Pioneer but nothing for updating the NAV system. The SD card initiated the update process. There was my apple to apples Since we can't do the DVD anymore, I was hoping for the $200 update done via the SD card. Quick, painless, and small to ship to the end user. |
