I have sinned
I have sinned and I think that I need to be given absolution or a blessing, or something. I just bought a Ford. Easy on me please. I still have two Corvettes in the garage, another on the way, and a 56 BelAir. The black 39 Ford Deluxe coupe just called out to me. It has a built 51 flathead with two 97's and two very loud pipes. I don't have pictures yet because it hasn't been delivered. I have always had a soft spot for these things. I love traditional type hot rods but the early 30's open cars are just too basic and uncomfortable for me. I promise to not neglect the Corvettes even with this new addition.:hide:

All the 'old cars' are good; some are better than others, but, they are all good.

My son; say one Our Father, one Hail Mary and The Apostle's Creed plus post some pics when you can for a complete absolution.

Nothing to be sorry about .We all like all the classic cars and trucks:thumbs:

Place a hefty offering in the collection box at Speedway or Jeggs and place the adornments on the car for everlasting peace.

A Heart transplant to a Small Block Chevy would make that old Ford acceptable. Just sayin! Al W.:flag:

Shall we go on? I think not. Love ALL the old cars regardless of Marque. |
Good move. IMO a '39 Deluxe is better looking than a '40 Deluxe. :hide:
I used to give '40 Standards (same grille as '39 Deluxe) a break (cool headlights), but then I realized the '39 lamps look like Lincoln Zephyrs! And '39 teardrop taillights are the go-to units for A and Deuce street rods, slightly ahead of the round '50 Pontiacs. Not many people transplant '40 chevrons onto anything else. :nonod: Finally, '39 was the last year for a floor shift in Ford cars. Into the mid-fifties, column shifts were cool, supposedly because you could "shift faster" (?). Zora and George (Hurst) turned that perception around. :auto: So a '39 Deluxe woody is high on my bucket list! Pics, please? |

/QUOTE] I came home from the hospital in this: http://i61.tinypic.com/vinn14.jpg I don't think you need any forgiveness! Nice choice! (The car above had a SBC, but I learned to drive a straight shift in a 40k original mile '53 ford club coupe- the last of the flatheads. Nothing like it!) |

Ford
If it makes you feel better, I could sell you a few indulgences. I get it about Ford. To paraphrase Jimmy Carter, I have lusted in my heart for a Ford GT. Good luck with the car and please post a picture or two. Jerry

Sounds like me, I have sinned a number of times since I bought my '62 back in '72. My Fords do have Chevy motors though.

Does running a '51 Flathead in a '39 make it a Resto-Mod ? :D

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...............
I have owned only one FORD in my life, and this is it (460/375hp) http://i59.tinypic.com/2hhhkxy.jpg |
Sweet Coupe! The Flathead is super cool. If you do upgrade the engine, it has been proven that you Can fit an appropriate Ford engine in an early Ford ....

If it's steel, your are forgiven.
