I'm looking to upgrade from my base coupe. I really like it, but I need a bit more. I considered a C7 but I have to park it outside at work and I am not going to do that to a brand new car. With the C6Z, I can get the performance I am looking for, save a few bucks and not stress out as much when it is parked at work. I will be getting a car cover for it though. Just waiting for a couple dominos to fall in place over the next few weeks and I will be out there shopping.

If your coupe is a LS3, slap on forced induction and call it a day. You'll save a heck of lot more money going that route. And the LS3 w/FI makes very decent power w/jus that mod. I've never owned a LS2, but I'm sure it's a hearty engine as well (for FI applications).

Unless your wanting a Z, FI would give you a big bang all things considered.

I'm sorry slapping the FI on the LS3 != Z06, there is much more than just power adder to come close to what the Z06 really is.

Damn.. I'd much rather park a one of 5 million (exaggeration) c7 base model outside during work than a c6z but to each his own on that. Good luck with your search. There are much more on the market than when I was looking at the start of the year. It'll be interesting to see the value and availability of them this time next year.

He wont get a nice Zr1 for 60k.Even 09 Zr1s if they have low mileage and no stories such as accidents or having been abused go for lots more than 60k.If the budget allows for high 60s then a Zr1 should be considered.I just switched from an 07 z06 to a 2011 zR1.Both great cars.Killer brakes on the Zr1 and you dont need to worry about doing the heads.

I couldn't agree more. My 06 ZO6 was the first Corvette my wife every enjoyed long road trips in and when it was just her and I would often suggest we take the ZO6 instead of her SRX.

If you go newer than an 09 and end up looking at a 2013, either buy it new with the warranty or get a used one with at least 5k miles on it. Alot of 13's lost the connecting rod coatings which destroyed the engines. Most all that are going to fail, failed in the 3500 mile range. If it's past 5000, it's probably safe.

And you can expect 25-30 percent off on a new z06 from a dealer that has 13's left over. There are a few out there. A 90k car for 60-65k, absolute bargain in my book. I bought a new 09 jetstream blue new in 2010. Sticker was 79k. I got it for 57k. The dealer had it so long GM offered it to the dealer for purchase at a heavy discount to get it off floor plan. Then I bought it.

Happy Hunting

wait for the c7 z06 to come out n u will get a zr1 starting with a 5XXXX. ls7 engine sucks. dropped valves, connecting rod bearing wear, failed oil pumps, split blocks. the lsa in the zr1 is already boosted n forged. drive and enjoy. i was tempted b4 i bought mine but knew i wud go nuts with it and wanted a side mount not top mount blower so went Z
