Order a Manual or Automatic ZO6?
My wife liked the 6 speed in her C6 ZO6. I like auto trannies. Now we are on the list at a dealership for a C7 ZO6 and will be pondering the choice since we have a choice!
I remember people complaining that GM didn't offer an auto tranny in the C6 ZO6, and with good reason. Some potential buyers were vets with wounds effecting their ability to work a clutch and throttle at the same time, others had congenital disabilities, etc. My memory might be a little skewed, but I seem to remember a supporting vendor's shop offering a drop off/pick it up in a week or so conversion to full automatic for the C6 ZO6 for somewhere around $20,000? Anyway, how are you folks planning on ordering yours? RG |
A8, without a doubt. My wife is not a fan of manuals, I have old injuries in my right shoulder and old age in my lower back that make the 3rd pedal and the stick less than long term viable. If the A8 is as good as GM is saying, I'll be a very happy camper.

I'm going to wait till the magazines review the car to decide. If they say the stingray auto sucks as bad as the new on it's the 7 speed I order.

Always will be manual for me.

Auto for me, lots of traffic here and it will live at the drag strip.

Manual for me. I would be really afraid that with 8 speeds the tranny will always be
hunting for the correct gear. Besides, sticks are just more fun. I feel more connected to the car when I'm shifting. Boils down to personal preference - driving conditions - no right or wrong choice. |

Ours will likely be an auto, as the ZR-1 is our manual car. :D

It will be several years before I own a C7Z06. Even if the new Z comes in at $80k, I just dont have the budget for it right now. So if anything I'm probably looking a 2015 Stingray. That said I would still have to choose between the M7 or A8. And Im still leaning towards the M7.
As fast shifting as the A8 may be. I have never driven an automatic car that is more fun to drive than the manual version. Since I'm not chasing the fastest laptimes or 1/4 time at the local track.. my C7's primary purpose is for fun. And I just dont see the A8 car being more fun to drive than the M7. |

Depends on the reviews.....
I've Been driving manual transmission cars for over 35 years...... The new automatics shift so dam fast though I'll lean towards the A8... If the wife digs manuals...so get the m7... Happy wife...happy life. |
manual
I don't trust a torque converter auto made by gm. Shift speed is just a small part of the story. |
DCT for me.!!!!!! Jk...
|
Manual and I'll be proud to be the first one destroying the tranny as usual XD

Auto for me. I haven't driven a manual transmission in a LONG time and would be more comfortable not shifting all the time.
I hope to see some follow up about your conversion comment. I bought my 2011 C6 in 2010 as a self retirement present and I discussed with the dealership owner (west Atlanta suburb) if it was possible to buy a ZR1 (manual) and have it "adjusted" afterwards to be an auto. He said there was no way to do such a thing, too many "computer type" issues. If it was possible, I would have done it. |
