Jerry,
I have a '56 hard top. Needs glass, liner, weatherstripping, and lower rear stainless. May need more than u are willing to take on? If interested I'll e mail photos and then we can discuss pricing/trade out for FI work. G geopar@gvtc.com |
Hello,
I sent you an email. |
Jerry, are you looking mostly for body and trim parts? I know I have a nice set of deck lid (seat) stainless, but they have riveted in snaps for a tonneau cover. I have a lot of other stuff that I would be happy to sort through if you can tell me what you have left to find. I don't have any body panels or large items left. Happy to help.

Are you still looking for parts?

I think a 292 c.i. displacement means it's been bored .060" over. I believe readers will offer opinions on the value of your engine if you're willing to provide more information about it, such as: what is stamped on the block i.d. pad? is it an original GM stamp or a later re-stamp? how much of the original 283 is there - heads, FI unit, distributor, etc.? what are you willing to guarantee about its condition? Otherwise, I doubt readers can say anything meaningful about its value to them. Jerry Thanks for getting back to me. I wasn't sure about displ. I was thinking a 60 over was a 301. After 'googling' it, I see that it's not. I bought the block, had it rebuilt and had it stamped by engine rebuilder in WA in '87. I installed it in my '57 which I bought in 1973 when it had a 327. The dual point distributor I think is orig but I am not certain. Heads - don't know about these either. No FI unit. I have an mpeg showing the car running. If you'll provide me a phone number or email address, I'll send it to you. (hollandjim57z06@gmail.com) I'd guarantee it. I will get the numbers that are stamped on the pad as soon as it warms up in my garage. Thanks. Jim |

Jim -
I was trying to help you market your engine to others. I'm not looking for an engine for my '57. You're certainly welcome to use my thread to sell your 283, however. If you want to start a new thread to sell it, Forum rules require that you list a price. I believe the more specific info you post, the easier it will sell. Most engine buyers will want to know casting numbers on the heads. They'll also want see photos so they know if it has a balancer, starter, valve covers, intake, carb, distributor, etc. The few used engines I've sold in the past haven't brought nearly as much as it cost me to have them built. I would consider it good if I got 30 cents back for every dollar I spent. Jerry |

I now need one original wood spacer that goes below the door opening stainless sill plate.
I just found a pair in the bowels of the basement. Send me your address again and I'll send you one. Mike Ernst |
