Update on Cooling Fan Connector Melting

Have there been any "new fixes" or methodology to correct this ongoing problem with the melting connector?

Better connectors.....where to purchase......without having to buy the whole fan shroud assembly?

Many on here have just cut the connector and soldered the wires directly..I would certainly do this before buying some expensive part. In the unlikely event that you need to disassemble at some point, they can be unsoldered.

On the cooling fan shroud just above the cooling fan module.

Passenger side half way up the shroud. Easier to get it from underneath. Well was for mine as the blower is in the way

For those who have done this "mod," is this the dreaded connector:

Coming from the power side, red/black, black, and green wires-->connector-->red, black, and red wires going to fan control module

I think it may be the one everyone's referring to, but mine may be moved from the stock location since I had Spal dual fans installed with the OEM radiator.

For the dual fans on my Dewitt radiator install, the cable is long enough to move the controller to the fender near the fuse box and then hardwired to the fans.
