Weld RTS setup that clears brakes
I am contemplating purchasing some Welds for my GS. Looking for wheel specs that will clear Z06/GS brakes. 17" all around or 18" up front? Ideal tire sizes? Pics would be great too. Thanks folks.

Come on folks, surely some of you are running a drag setup. Help a brother out lol!!

Why not just call them? 800.788.9353 They are very helpful guys. I see them at quite a few local car shows. I live about 15 miles from their shop. Highly recommended.

17x4.5 front with high pad and 17x11 with 7.5 backspacing and a high pad... For a drag pack... What are you looking to do with the rims...? Street, drag or road course...?

It's a street car with traction issues. I'm thinking 4.5" fronts may be too narrow for me? I still want it to handle. |

I'm going to be doing the 18x10 up front and the 17x11 out back like this.....

They have a GM fitment guide on their site. All the info, including part numbers is on their website.

18x7 fronts with 225/40's, 17x11 rears with 315/35 MT drag radials. I just told hinson motorsports what sizes and style I wanted and they figured the offsets off of that chart.

TRSCobra, that looks amazing! How is traction with that setup? They bolted right up without changing anything? No issues with abs or tc etc?

I had a set of 225/45's ordered for the fronts, but after seeing the diameter was slightly larger than the 315's in the rear, I went with the smaller 225/40 to avoid traction control issues. |
For comparison's sake:http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...pse6b2pb5w.jpg

17 x 4.5 and 17x11. Those are 28 inch tall tires in the back. I switched to a 315 for an event I have tonight and will post some pictures with those tires once I take them.

^^^ I love the way those 28's (345 M&H?) fill the wheelwells. When I get enough power to start spinning these 315's, that will be my next setup.
|
Tire size will determine AH issues, not wheel size. I went 18x7 front with a 225 up front. Had a 235 but they rubbed slightly on the fender lines. Could have got away with it, but they were just a tad too big.
If I didn't do spindles, I would have done 18x7 and 17x10 rear. No fitment issues, good tire selection, and light weight. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...6129ce7870.jpg |

^Looking mean fellas. Ideally I would want a 27" rear tire or thereabouts. 28" may be too tall and would probably rub. My car is slammed.
I'm still on the fence about 17 or 18" fronts. What are the pros and cons of each? As I said it's mainly a street car and I don't want to sacrifice braking, handling or change spindles etc. Help me decide. |
If you don't want to sacrifice that, then leave it stock. Any drag radial will sacrifice handlings, braking/etc.
