Bad day at the race track
3 Attachment(s)
This is not C4 related but since a few of you guys know me I will post some crash pictures of my C3 drag vette. This was a 8.74 run at 151 MPH when I lost it after I crossed the finish line. I walked away with no injuries.

From a fellow racer, I'm glad you're ok. You'll have to rebuilt your car so it is even faster. Good luck.
Sorry about the mess. |
Bad day indeed, looks like the winter project is spoken for... Glad you are ok!
|
It's a GREAT Day at the track anytime, when you could walk away from that!...:D
I'm glad you're OK and now you can rebuild your Vette even Better!!!... |

Sorry to see the damage.
Glad it did a good job of protecting you and that you were unhurt/able to walk away. Any idea why it got away from you? Will |

Will -Hit the brakes too hard (Over reacted because someone was on the track, where they should not have been, see pictures 2 and 3, that is the track in the shutdown area, I had no idea the track was blocked after the first shutdown) causing the rear tires to howl but still in control -Oil pressure dropped because I was on the brakes so hard -Went to put transmission in neutral so the RPM would come down so the engine would not be damaged by low oil pressure. Instead of shifting to neutral I shifted into low at 140 MPH (Major mistake), tires locked up and car took hard right towards outside wall. -Forgot to pull the shoot before I hit wall to straighten car out. Game over |
Fricken CRAZY!
I can't believe they would let cars on the track with part of the shut down area blocked off with only cones and workers just standing around.... Don't be too hard on yourself man..... Can imagine I'd be surprised (to say the least) if I went thru the traps and saw what amounts to a road construction crew working with a Bobcat and shovels in the shut down area. Will |

Sorry to hear about your ride, but thankfully you're OK
|
Glad you are OK and alive to race again.

..... I can't believe that ANY track ... especially in this day and age of litigation and insurance requirements ... would send drag cars down the strip while workmen were standing in between the walls with nothing more than orange cones for protection ? ............... Insane ! .....
|
Car's can be fixed/replaced. People can't! Glad you are ok!!!!

Glad you are ok.
Looks like all damage is firewall forward. T tops look to fit ok, windshield does not appear to be broken = cowl ok. Car can be fixed, pull the dog house, engine/trans etc. Check bell housing & trans case for cracks. Have the frame pulled at a reputable frame shop. Replace damaged steering/suspension. Worst case it may need a new front stub, just cut it off @ the firewall. Somebody should make a tube stub for it, might be the way to go = light weight. Whatever way you decide to go good luck. |
those are no ordinary cones, they are designed to stop a 3500 lb car travelling at 150 mph !
|
Glad you are ok.
|
WOW! sorry about the car :( glad you are OK.
|
Shame about the wreck but thankfully you got out without major hurt.
Good to know the car did its job in protecting you. Good luck with the rebuild. |
