Exactly what the factory delivered, 460/460. Beyond that no one has tested the package to it's breaking point over 100,000 miles which is what GM warranties the package for.

Theoretically the A8 is rated at over 700 lb-ft (HP is calculated, Torque is what the parts are rated for) but the Z06 has different internals and additional cooling so I doubt the A8 version delivered on the Stingray can withstand as much.

Torque is the measurement for durability of the drivetrain, not horsepower. Horsepower doesn't break things, torque does.

Anyways, thus far people have put tons of power through a lot of C7's but the definitive breaking point is not known.

If you're concerned about breaking things, best to stay closer to stock output.

I'd say anything under 550tq to the wheels is going to be pretty "safe" for an extended period of time.

Aside from the guy on another forum destroying his EDiff using launch control on a 100% stock car.......

You want to play you've gotta pay. It's all about how risk tolerant you are knowing that once you modify the drivetrain anything that breaks is on your dime.

our 2015 Z51 A8 is over 700whp, and we do a lot of testing on the street, the dyno & the track, so far so good...

Let me ask you this while we are at it.How prone to wheel hop is the C7??
That is on an even pavement etc.My Camaro SS is very prone to it even with good pavement.

Is the stock c7 the same way??

I have not experienced any wheel hop with our C7 yet, I am actually surprised how good the car hooks on the street with our power level and 18" drag radials.. I'm even impressed with the stock Michelins from a roll they hook pretty damn good as well, but from a dig the stock tires just go up in smoke. I think the Camaro is much more prone to wheel hop than the C7. My C6 Z06 actually exhibits some minor wheel hop depending on how I launch it...

I have about 560+ rear wheel torque on my supercharged C7 Z51 and it seems to handle it very well indeed. I think they must have built this for 600+ from the looks of things, but not sure.
I guess time will tell.

Thanks for all the responses. It looks like it should handle enough for my needs.

Hi Nick, What system and who tuned it? Did the tune the A8 too?
Thx!

bump! anyone break these yet??

kevin kinnaird 09-09-2017 04:38 AM

The 2015 z51 8speed

Mine held up to 825 ftlbs torque before breaking down. It had 15,000 miles on it and 790 rwhp and it blew the tranny at 5500 rpms

Ah. Still a good run for an auto..

How hard was it driven? Can you give some context into how the car was driven? 1/4 mile, open track, etc...

BrunoTheMellow 09-10-2017 02:34 AM

Let's just say I've shifted from 2nd to 1st (instead of 3rd) at WOT, so what, 72 mph overrev? a couple of times with 570 rwhp/530rwtq and somehow nothing has happened.

robert miller 09-11-2017 04:21 PM

ttt

I think the weak point in the c7 is the rear end only 2 small spider gears in a stock set up. More than a few have broken them out on this car.

I just got me a new set up from RPM a wavetrac with a 3:42 gear & a set of DSS input shafts. More guys in here are having problems with the A8 trans & not so much from the stick cars unless just side step it & have it to the floor. Robert

How about Z06, how many torque can it handle. (up to and how many tq it can handle consistently and reliability)
